Positive this morning, good but it still needs to carry on a bit more. No point driving half way up a hill only to roll back down

Its back to mid june pricing. This was an area of support, now its got to prove its not a ceiling. Beyond this 1.64 is a reasonable target for next week
  • hi all

i'm new to the forum so i don't know if i am putting my question in the relevant part!

i'm going to Florida in october and i am unsure as what to do about currency.

if anybody could give me some advice on whether to get all Us dollars? or part dollars and take a credit card?

never used a credit card abroad so i am unaware of any hidden charges etc..

thanks in advance for any advice given :)

I take about $200 cash and have a Fairfx card which I use all the time, even used it for a coffee at McD.

Weekly target would be 1.646 though that seems very optimistic, normally it should pull back first and dispel any doubts, etc

In about a week its gained 5 cents

Would the most economical way to change money in Vegas be to take pounds and change at a booth there ? - my thinking being that if I change money and do not lose I have to change it back and lose both ways , so if I change it as I need it i would be better off even if I lose a couple of cents on the pound at the booth ?

Something strange may be about to happen. If USA is downgraded in their credit rating, UK will outrank them and surely that is a positive for our exchange rate? At present its [strike]level unchanged[/strike] up 0.43% this morning

I've just opened a Citibank $ account so I can withdraw money when I'm there next month, does anyone know if they charge when you put £ into the account? I haven't got the paperwork through yet and I can't see anything on the website that tells me this.

I always used my Nationwide FlexAccount to withdraw cash but it looks like that will work out quite expensive now and I don't want to take lots of cash with me so the Citibank Account looked good.
