I wont post my chart but this one is very similar and the guy who made it is a licensed broker.

All thats important to note is the lines are generally going up. The solid blue line is the average again looking positive so good for peoples going on holiday etc (hopefully)

Also this coincides with Dollar rates worldwide faltering recently, it could even develop into another general selloff for it towards month end

Will hold off on the car hire then.

Actually, does the fluctuating rate of exchange make much difference to hire prices? ( book and pay in the UK in advance.)

if it changed by (say) 10%, it would not be unexpected if the car hire rate changed by (say) 10%:D.

If it helps at all, my car hire price hasn't changed from the start of Jan to todays date.

I am going on holiday to the US in 3 weeks and I plan to leave currency buying until a little later on in the hope the price will fluctuate in my benefit.

My question is this, is taking cash only such a bad deal?

I have a lloyds debit/credit card but they have all sorts of charges for paying with cards and withdrawals.

and I think I may have left it a little late to benefit from one of those best rate cards suitable for holidaying.

It depends on the rate when you got it. If you got it at $2 to the £1, you're onto a winner

Probably been discussed in another thread, I thought nationwide were the best for a long time but it might be a special lloyds card now. Martin will have written a guide I dont doubt. I wouldnt take mostly cash, arent travellers cheques still used or is the rate bad on those

Just booked the car hire - prices vary a lot, though.

We are having a compact this time, as I am going to drive in Florida for the first time. About time too - if ever I go over to help with baby, I'd be no use if I can't drive.

I was under the impression that travellers cheques were not that great anymore.

If I could get $2 for £1 it would be a dream!! haha
