  • 2. My OH parents used to own a pub. they told me a few years back amex charged a larger % so wouldn't use them. If they / I'm wrong then so be it... I'm sure Keith will hunt me down and gain his revenge

100% Correct and the reason why I , and many of the several hundred collegues i have with the chip and pin system wont use AMEX. The charges to the store owner are far higher.

Oh boy have you opened a can of worms...
I decided to do a little snooping round the net... I found this.. http://www.bargaineering.com/articles/why-do-merchants-dislike-american-express.html and this http://smallbusiness.yahoo.com/r-answers-a-20071010063053AAZMnIc-k-express+store... oh, and this... http://creditcardinfo.intercashflow.com/american-express-credit-cards_20070906061317AAQ0Ofl.html
The evidence seems to be somewhat overwhelming..
So, looking at this I can now confirm to one and all that I am indeed smart.
Now stoney... this is the last time I warn you... people in glass houses.. I'll let you figure out the rest (let me know if you need any help)

Morning all, just back from a long weekend on the lash, still suffering a tad.

Dropped down this morning to 1.583. CCE and TMS offering 1.5825 for 31 day delivery which is still pretty decent.
  • morning all,

    hope your all well,

got back from the honeymoon on thursday, had a great time.

won't be writing on here about it though as it might get deleted!!!

its typical that a couple of days after i went cable smashed 1.50,

put a couple of things on the credit card whilst there and got rates of between 1.46 and 1.475 so not too bad really.

most of the cash we took we only got about 1.42 apart from some that we ordered off CCE. got 1.47 off there.

well all looking good then, think next holiday will be either new york at xmas, if not it will be a beach holiday as i need to recover still from this one.

looking at st barts, st kitts and st lucia, anyone ever been? or got recommendations???
