So am I, Maestro has one distinct advantage over Visa for me.
Exactly mate. I prefer it and will myself look to go to a bank that continues with Maestro, which seems to be RBS for the moment - sorry, specifically Natwest - not RBS as they will go to Visa but Natwest are staying as Maestro apparently.2010 - year of the troll

VISA/MAESTRO, as long as I can do my shopping and use it overseas, im so not bothered!
But i will be checking that hologram fact for you as I have not see a hologram on any visa card yet! My branch manuals say there is no difference and I have not seen the difference myself!
I do know that you can request a CGC like i have said SEVERAL times, lol but they are not offering the cards freely, you have to ask, they wont automatically give it to youOfficial SOS Club number 014 - Dry until 29.11.090 -
I have 2 visa cards from HSBC both with £100 Cheque Guarantee hologram on the back. These were sent in the last month or so if that helps. One is from a grad account, the other a Plus account0

Barclays removed their hologram too! but i cant speak for them
No, we haven't.
It really is as simple as no hologram, no guarantee on our cards. A card without the hologram is a full authorization Visa debit card. This applies universally to customers new and old.
We are yet to remove the cheque guarantee feature, and until we do, all "Connect" cards will carry at least £50 of guarantee. Cards without are described (internally) as "Connect Electronic" and are full authorization. What would William Shatner do?0 -
