When your scored, they automatically hand out a non cheque guaranteed visa card but you can request it as long as your score is within reason but HSBC will know if they can offer it.

It does not say on the card if it is cheque guranteed or not! The plus card is just black for the sake of being black but there are plus cards with a guarantee and some with none but you will never know because there are no indicative features that clearly state this at the front of the card

If it's a cheque guarantee card it will have the William Shakespeare hologram on it, "the Bard on the Card" as it was called when it was first introduced. If you move this in the light it will show the CG limit, e.g. £100. This hologram is usually on the back these days. If it doesn't have this hologram on it, then it isn't a cheque guarantee card. There is no such thing as a CG card with "no indicative features" on it. As someone has already said, such a CG card wouldn't be any use to anybody! A CG card needs to show on it that it is a CG card so the person you are giving the cheque to can be assured that the cheque will be paid. They then write the CG card no. on the cheque.

If you've got a card that doesn't say on it whether it is a CG card or not, then it isn't one.

The maestro cards do state whether they are cheque gurantee or not

but the visa cards do not, whether your plus or not, but like i said you could ask for a cheque gurantee visa card.

I dont know why HSBC dont show the difference but thats up to them, I just work for them, lol

So if you ordered a new card after 7th January 2009 you would get a visa card with no cheque gurantee rather than your maestro cheque guarantee card, so if you insist on having this gurantee make it clear to them that you want one

I hope that makes sense now
