Regarding the group B strep, if you have been having ongoing problems with thrush and irritation during the pregnancy, it's worth asking your midwife if they can do the swab through the NHS for free. When I mentioned that I wanted the test done (and I was prepared to pay for it), that's what my midwife suggested. She called the lab and had it approved, and I will be getting it about 34/35 wks through the NHS at no charge. Just a suggestion for anyone that it might help.MSE mum of DS(7), and DS(4) (and 2 adult DCs as well!)DFW Long haul supporters No 210:snow_grin Christmas 2013 is coming soon!!! :xmastree:0

Beenie - I was going to sell Wii Fit on eBay as don't use it but I know a few of the girls used it thru Pregnancy - MFD was on I think.
Good luck with scan!! Don't forget we want pics!!
I had a Nuchal Fold Scan (paid £150 privately) as OH and I wanted to be prepared in case there were any problems. Our results came back 1 in 10,000 so we haven't had any further tests.
I have a Glucose Tolerance Test at 28 weeks - it's not for BMI though (mine is about 25) it's because my Mum has Type 1 Diabetes.
Nancmat - I have always been adamant that whilst I wanted children, I was always putting it off for some reason or another. Then in December I just got really broody and the rest as they say is history :rotfl:
Right, first day of leave so plan is to sort out stuff for car boot whilst sun not in garden and then go and chill out in said garden for the afternoon.
Might not be on here much this week so would someone mind PM'ing me any births? Only because I'll never have time to read back thru the whole thread!
CheersA very busy Yummy Mummy to a 1 year old gorgeous boy :smileyhea

Morning all..
Rhys is coming off his ventilator today and going back on CPAP (breathing support rather than a machine breathing for him).. I'm in two minds about it if I'm honest. It's a good thing - they obviously think he's strong enough to cope on his own and taking the tube out means there is lower chance of infection and he will be able to cough so should shift some of the bad stuff from his lungs. Thing is, he was taken off the ventilator and put on CPAP on Day 4 and by Day 6 we were having "resus decision" talks with the consultant because he was deteriorating and had to go back on the ventilator which came with the risk he would need resus'ing and the worst might happen..Just hope he's strong enough to stay on CPAP for good this time..
They're also going to talk to kidney specialists at Nottingham hospital today too to see if there's anything else they can do for his kidney function. Not quite sure what, but his level of something is 400 and it should be 80 or under!
There's a new addition to the room too so three babies in there now. Getting cramped in there - think we have the best spot tho, tucked away in a corner
OH going to nip home for a while shortly.. Wish I could drive again, dammit!0 -
Catching up...
We bought a Wii Fit for after pregnancy so I can exercise at home.
I had two glucose tests although my BMI was only 19. Both my parents have Type 2 diabetes, and my mother's two early births and gigantic babies (my brother was born at 26 weeks and well over 3lbs) could have been GD-related.
Lovely husband liked his birthday presents so much he teared up. Apparently I summed up exactly how well I know him in four gifts, including a book he'd had as a child and loved. He is less pleased with me this morning, since my sleeping self apparently half-woke covered in the product of a leaky boob and wiped it all over his bare arm.
Bad Wife giggled about it when he told me and was then thoroughly gutted at the puddles I left on the freshly-washed sheet.
Edit: elle, I hope it all goes well today. He sounds like he's doing so much better.Organised Birthdays and Christmas: Spend So Far: £193.75; Saved from RRP £963.76

Hi Elle
I am sure that after the problems on Day 6 they would only consider the switch if they thought it was the best thing for Rhys development. It sounds like he is making progress every day!

we just got a Wii and a Wii fit! I used to frequent the gym, but since we moved further out of London and the pregnancy, I stopped going and was disdained at my spreading waistline! Anyway, I've just started using it & besides it tell me I'm getting fatter (lol, need to fix that setting!), it's good. Low impact and nothing stressful, but I still feel like I'm *doing* something, you know? Especially the yoga...my balance is generally horrible (as the Wii tells me), so even an improvement in this would help loads as my bump grows!
Wish I had known you ladies were going to sell yours - would've far more MSE to strike a deal with one of you privately!top 2013 wins: iPad, £50 dental care, £50 sportswear, £50 Nectar GC, £300 B&Q GC; jewellery, Bumbo, 12xPringles, 2xDiesel EDT, £25 Morrisons, £50 Loch Fyne

Know I've mentioned it before but has anyone else had step B test, and when can you get test (I know a £30 fee applies). I'm having it drummed into me by a friend who's friend gave birth didnt know she carried it and passed to baby who know has celebral palsy, so I'm really paranoid about it now.

nancmat; your story brought a tear to my eye! I know it's very scary as nothing can really prepare you for having a baby of your own but you obviously have the magic mummy gene in there and to be honest as you are young, fit n healthy you're in the best position to have a straight forward birth.
I for one never imagined that giving birth could be anything but a hideous painful experience but I can honestly say that giving birth to Chris was a million times easier than I thought it would be, afterwards I actually said "that was easy!"
:rotfl: looking back it wasn't 'easy' but nothing really worth doing is, is it?!
Glam - old buddy, old friend you know I want a wii fit :whistle:0 -
My health visitor has just been to visit! Seems very nice.. She was a midwife here, then a Neonatal nurse prior to being a HV. She's also has a son who was in SCBU for a while and is now in a wheelchair (like Rhys might well be) although she didn't go into detail.
Not quite sure what a health visitor is there to do..0 -
Right postman has just been and we have got the enrolement details for this years summer sports days at the leisure centre. Now Jasmine did 2 of them last year and absolutely LOVED them, however you have to queue to get your name on to the courses as it is 1st come 1st served and there are limited spaces on the good ones.
Enrolement day is 13th June - 5 days before my hospital appointment, last year I was there for over 3 hours and only just got her on them !! How much do I want her to do one this year???
At 39 weeks pregnant 3 hours queuing is a big ask !!!The two best things I have done with my life
