Car Boot Threads - OS or Ebay?
Comments
-
A lot of people who buy/sell at car boots don't do it because it's OS, they do it to get a bargain or to make some quick cash (I mean people generally, I'm not talking just about MSErs).
If I decided to raise money by carbooting to pay off a loan, I wouldn't post it on the Loans or Debt-Free Wannabe boards, it wouldn't fit because it's not about loans or debts, it's about selling my stuff.
I voted for the ebay board because it fits better there but I think it should be re-named to include auctions, jumble sales, car boots and anywhere else you can buy and sell your stuff - not just online thingies.
IMO
I don't understand it when people say - "please don't move my thread, I live on this board". As if every other board is evil or somethingIf someone says this, surely they know they've posted it in the wrong place

I think a lot of OS'ers tend to stick to this board, as its too time consuming to read every post on every board, there would be no time for cooking from scratch if we did (lol)February Grocery Challenge £250.00

To my mind car boots/jumbles/charity shop finds are about money saving. I have always thought about OS as being about saving money in and around the home so don't quite see where the finds in sales fit in with that?
Finds are interesting reading, but if someone finds something good in a car boot, I can't go nab the self same bargain can I? So I'm not quite sure why it is relevant to OS to be honest. I'm sure I'll be corrected if I have misunderstood.
I do appreciate links in OS to other boards that might be useful, but am quite happy to visit that other board and don't feel the need to discuss it in OS.
So my vote goes to Ebay, but with a name change to make it clearer what the board is about.0 -

As a lot of people don't have hours and hours to trawl through each board! Car boots are OS IMO yes they do save money in around the home too.
I think the poll results speak for themselves really.
Is it not possibe to make a mini board within a board like the the family thread?February Grocery Challenge £250.00

I like that idea, we could have car boots, charity shops, jumbles, rummage sales and fetesOrganised people are just too lazy to look for things

Actually the number of votes for the eBay board is increasing a lot. there was a bigger difference in the votes this morning, now a lot more people have voted ebay.
If I really want to fight the eBay corner I could say there is a slight unfair advantage as the thread is in the OS board. But I'm not being picky! But I don't think its really makes any difference where the thread is tbh.

In fact the poll is a fix as there are only two options and not the third option that I would have voted on :rotfl:
I'm keeping my boot sale/markets threads and nobody is getting them
I'm sorry that people can't find the time to visit other boards on MSE as there is such a wealth of information and help out there on every subject under the sun.0 -

What I meant was, that I don't understand why OSers didn't follow the thread to it's new home instead of ignoring it just because they don't want to leave OS.
They are lots of people here who tend to stick their favourite boards, I do too. I have no interest in credit cards but if I had a CC question, I would go to the CC board, not post it in OS or Business just because it's one of my faves.
This all sounds better in my head, somewhere between my brain and the keyboard it's getting a bit lost lol.Bulletproof0 -
Excellent post troo! I have the boards I use some boards all the time, but if I have a question thats relevant in another board I'll post it there. I even have the nerve to post in OS sometimes....
edit: left out some words! lol0
