im really sorry for having to post this but i have been searching the forums for about an hour and a half now,
Does the tesco misprice policy apply only instore or does it apply online also?? as i bought a hoover from them that was displayed at £54.97 but i was charged £69.99 and i was wondering if their misprice policy applied to their online store also??
Cheers

No, unfortunately it doesnt.
When you call their customer service number they offer to refund the difference, or allow you to return it to the store.
In my experience if you ask nicely you sometimes get some small compensation - a refund on your delivery charge, or some shopping vouchers.0 -
OK so I have just come back from...Tescos of course. After reading the misprices thread for so long I thought I would see what I could find when I was there.
There was a whole section of DVDs with the wrong stickers on e.g. Charlie and the Choc Factory - SEL £24.97 but with a sticker on for £9.97! Sure enough it scanned at the SEL price. Loads of DVDs had these £9.97 stickers on and a different label. So I chose a few DVDs I would like and took them to one of the self service checkouts.
I paid at the higher prices and went to CS. I said I have just bought these DVDs and they were all wrongly priced. She then accussed me of not being able to see for myself that they were the wrong prices when I paid. A fair point....but at the end of the day does it matter? Their policy clearly states that any overprices items will be refunded in full. Is it my fault that they can not correctly price a whole section of DVDs? She begrudgingly refunded me and was obviously mad at me - it should be the staff she is angry with for making such stupid errors.
If I was to go into a small DVD shop, they wouldn't have one price on the item and another on the items SEL - they probably would not be able to afford to make those mistakes.
I think my point is here maybe Tesco are too big for their own boots plus the fact they have the full refund policy they only have themselves to blame. The main thing is to keep the main thing the main thing:)0 -
Tesco - Ricoh in Coventry
PSP Everybodys Golf - still scanning at 34.99 with a sticker of £19.94. R and R given with a smile and a thankyou!
Props to Ricoh CS - didn't even have to ask for it.
Nothing was done about it, so get in there for free PSP games.

I have an issue with those claiming refunds after using the self scan to complete a transaction. If YOU scan the item and still pay the price that has come up on the screen then YOU have agreed that the price shown is the price you will pay. YOU completed the transaction not a cashier. If you had gone through a normal checkout then i feel that you would have a watertight case however as YOU processed the whole transaction to a finish i think that the CS person was correct.
If you went into a small dvd shop then it would be improbable that they would have SEL's and therefore your point is rather invalid. Also a small DVD shop would not offer the policy that Tesco offer.
I agree that the fact that the incorrect pricing is unacceptable (the dvd's you mentioned were picked up on in our store first thing monday and all taken off sale) and that there are certainly some procedures that need tightening.Fight Poverty - Hit a tramp!
I don't exist, it is merely your imagination.

Yes I do see what you mean about the self-service - as the CS Woman also pointed out! However, if I had taken them to a normal checkout, wouldn't the staff who had served me seen the price it scanned for and the sticker and then changed it before it was sold? Or is the general thing here that a lot of staff do not realise or do not care?
I'm still amazed that there were so many DVDs wrongly priced - it does make you wonder what other higher priced items are incorrectly priced? Wouldn't surprise me if Tesco's started selling cars one day...do you think they would keep this policy then? lol (maybe not...):rolleyes:The main thing is to keep the main thing the main thing:)0 -

I half agree with your comments. Sure if you buy one or two items, then this may be the case.
However if running 20 through the checkout, and trying to get the @%#! machine not to complain about the weight of the item, or the position in the bag, or needing supervisor override / age confirmation. And trying to remember which items have cases / tags so that you can remind the inattentive supervisor to remove them before the store alarms go off. The actual price shown on the screen is the least of my worries.
With items like multi-buys or discounts the discount often isn't shown on the screen until after you complete the transaction (unlike Sainsbury's et al which show it at the time).
If I suspect there may be an R&R then I usually choose to go through a normal till because it saves the argument with CS about agreeing to the price.

Koloomn for PSP sticker 19.94 scans at 19.97

Spiderman for PSP sticker 24.94 scans at 24.97
Since CS were too busy getting a manager to come and deny me the R + R as they suspect me of abusing the policy (moi?), they didnt bother to go check if there were any more mispriced games there I hadnt taken. First one there please enjoy it and please be sure to smile at the CS desk people as they grit their teeth and call that particular Manager out of his meeting again.
Oh and if they pull the "only refund one" gag, say no and ask for HO number.

I will probably mess this up trying to bring that comment to this thread to reply to it .... I bought 4 different ones, the other was PSP World Snooker challenge 2005 sticker 19.94 scans at 19.97 but it was last on the shelf so didnt mention it there. I really wanted someone to go get them before I have to go back for my refund .... but I have just had the call from HO to say they have discussed it with the manager and now he will do my refund.... so i can go back now. I reckon they might still not have checked the shelf yet so probably a half decent chance if anyone gets there before 4pm
Obviously other stores might have this same error, I just want to make sure Warrington Extra need to grit their teeth a little today because .... well just because
He was accusing me of abusing the policy because I had some meat 2 weeks ago (finest british lamb rack I do believe, very tasty too) and he seems to remember me getting a PSP game here before (Yes I think it was King Kong about a month back) but no matter as HO do agree I get the refund so I am going there now. Obviously Warrington Extra is off my shopping list for quite some time now although I wont mind nipping in to scan check things as my really local one has broken scanners ....0 -

It's a fair comment - world of difference taking the risk and using a normal checkout for a wrongly priced DVD than doing the self-scan - as with the latter you are staring at the LCD as you scan away.
But fair play - Rufus has a good point too....personally I can't get on with the self scan set up....
....and what in the name of all things Holy are the self scans with the accelerating nightmarish rolling conveyor belts all about - they have a distinctly Jigsaw-type design.....disturbs His Dudeness karma....
But hey - Spa2k - missed ya Dude - how's your share portfolio looking?

I tried to make an r+r'er out of my mum tonight, I was getting PSP games but we saw the healthy living chicken breast's with a higher label price than the SEL. The CS person unfortunaty is very intimidating and I try to avoid her but I have been sucsessfull with her in the past. she took the chicken and mu mum followed her to the fridges to see the SEL I wish I had gone, she said the item bought wasnt the same as the SEL said which was rubish as I didnt want my mum to have any problem so I double checked everything even finding a pack that matched the SEL and the labels were almost identical the exception being the price per Kg. My mum caved in unfortunatly and received a refund without the chicken.
I think I will have to try her in a different store the store In question is very hard to get an r+r even when everything is perfect I just hope she hasnt been put off, she thinks I'm strange going in tesco for freebys.0
