You seem to know quite a lot about the staff's activities - are you sure you don't work there?0 -
Back from Tescos. Managed to bag Virtua Tennis, Untold Legends and Spiderman 2 for PSP, all 3p wrong (£19.97 instead of £19.94).
I took them through checkout and no problems.
Went to CS.....told them I had been overcharged. The woman on checkout could not seem to do the R&R herself for some reason, so had to get someone higher up....15 mins later!!....and a nice lady came to see me.
She said that as the difference is only a tiny 3p she will not be able to offer a full refund on the items as it is ONLY 3p. I was shaking my head. She said as a goodwill I can have £10 refunded.....hmmm I thought. Nope!
I stood my ground and said your policy clearly states ANY overprice should be FULLY refunded. Sure enough she told her CS woman to issue full refunds "just this time" for me and walked off without a smile!! Why is it so hard to correctly price things????
Anyway, am I right in thinking I was totally within my rights to get a refund as they were overpriced? Do other people get refunds easily or with a lot of struggling? Is there a best time to go when there are no managers around etc like 9pm ish? Getting the hang of this stuff now;)The main thing is to keep the main thing the main thing:)0 -

You are right in thinking that if the SEL was 3p less than the price you paid at the till, Tesco policy says you can have a full refund.
No "best time" to go really...if your store are reluctant R+R ers, they will be at all times of the day.Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?

I have had refunds on stuff for just a penny difference without any problem. I don't care if it's only one penny , one pound , or one hundred pounds its still an overcharge and that's how they get the profits.

Yep that's what I thought....can't believe she tried to fob me off with a £10 "goodwill gesture" rather than my £70 back! I guess you have got to stand your ground and point to the sign about the overcharges! The main thing is to keep the main thing the main thing:)0

You have got to stand your ground . I have made calls to head office about stores in the past but it gets you nowhere and just makes me more determined to go back for more. In my opinion they just create more problems for themselves.0

just an opinion which might be right or wrong, I think under £20 the CS person can just refund without any manager needed, above £20 you need a manager to authorise. I have noticed they tend to call a manager over anyway now as I suspect the have to "eyeball" the person so they can start to identify regulars, or that may just be my perception
I have now found that they will always offer to refund the difference to start with, and you have to point out that is not the policy before they will start considering an overcharge procedure to give you the full refund ... thats maybe just what i have noticed but i suspect from the words used to me from some places they have been directed to offer that difference first and not go direct to the full refund. Insisting, politely will always get you the refund, even if it has to be a Head Office call to make them overturn a managers decision to just refund the 3 pence difference, but you can be assured once HO do overturn them they wont be happy about it
Some recent conversations .......
My till has just got to reboot, how about I just give you the 3p and that will save you waiting ?
That item is now marked out of stock, so you cant have seen the £19.94 price behind the red out of stock sticker ..... erm i was the one that bought the last one to make it out of stock and your scanner person in the next aisle just put the red sticker up ....
So you bought this microwave and found it was the wrong price as you walked out of the store, and now it seems your PSP game is wrong too, you only bought 2 items and they were both overcharged?
Did you know that game would be charged at the wrong price before you bought it?0 -

Definitely don't work for Tesco! I'm actually self-employed. What I do sometimes involves Tesco, but my work is varied. For example, my work took me to Asda in Norwich today.
I've got mates who work in Yarmouth Tesco. In a rut? Can't get out? Don't know why?
It's time to make that change.

That isnt really true if you think about it. the reason Tesco make profits is that they buy somthing for not a lot and sell it for a bit more. the fact that they occasionally make a mistake on pricing of some products they make a bit extra off those shoppers that dont check their recipts after paying. It may be 1 or 2 pence profit per item, to make £2billion profit and with the number of items they sell each year they dont have to make alot per item just sell an awfull lot of them to make those types of figures. and no mater what time I go in to stores there is always 1 person with a trolly full of stuff either att he checkouts or walking round the store even during the night.

Giveing head office a call I have found to be a waste of time, especially if you tell them what has happened they seem to back the store now. If you do call head office just tell them you have been over charged and that CS are refusing to go by the preice promise poster.
Some CS staff seem to begrudge giving people a refund and seem to think we are removing the money from their wages, maybe it does affect their bonus or somthing I dont know? If they can give us all refunds on PSP games and still make huge profits Im sure it doesnt matter that much. Some stores seem to try the refund the difference, I always point to the sign especially if I have been left waiting while they varify the overcharge "hey I just read that sign kind of thing shouldnt I get a full refund?" what esle do I do while I am waiting I read anything available to me. If they are quick and try it then I remember the time my gran got some free carrots becasue of an over charge and ask if the same thing applies in this case. It doesnt sound quite like Im a regular r+r'er.
There does seem to be a maximum value of an item that they can refund before contacting a manager, again the PSP games the ones comming up at £19.97 seem to be done without a problem those that are £24.97 a manager is called usually just on the phone they dont make an apperence. This isnt 100% as some times CS has just refunded without asking anyone but they do seem to be the older members of staff possibly more senor CS people.
The most important thing I feel is to be polite and freindly with the staff If they mention about it taking time to sort a refund make a joke of it, I can wait all day getting somthing free is worth the wait. after all they could just say no if they wanted to and give you a refund without the product most of the time they will have hold of it to scan it to check the price. Be polite and say thanks afterwards if your not so nace they will remember you for the next time.
Has anyone one noticed witht he curent PSP thing that the none extra stores dont seem to have as many none chart PSP games as they used to? I think I will ask at one of the stores next time I am in there.0
