I was shopping with a mate not so long ago and I said to him I thought there was a guy following us around and we concluded we must have looked pretty dodgy as it could only have been a store detective.

After a few laughs, I was dared to wink at him and see what happens which I did. The detective quickly stopped following us hahaha

I must admit I always thought that head office gave the orders and the store managers followed them, not the other way round.
I must admit I found the whole thing amusing as well as annoying. What's the saying? lose the battle but win the war.

The Store V's HO debate amuses me. I've had an issue in store who refused a R&R. Spoke to HO who agreed I should get my money back. Store still refused R&R. HO spoke to store to tell them I should have an R&R. Store still refused R&R. HO apologised to me as two team leaders agreed that an R&R should apply. Apparently HO cannot overrule the store - so what's the point of HO then?? Stores can charge what they want - nothing HO can do, Trading Standard don't deal with civil cases in my area, so the only comeback a store would have is from the courts. Hardly going to happen over a leg of lamb or some edam.

OK, so maybe we're not looking for Hong Kong Phooey here, but how the devil can you guess which store I am talking about?

Incidentally, there are plenty of stores with mezzanines and travelators now - I can name at least two others (Bletchley and Kingston MK).

You're not a Store Defective are you? If you are, I make no appology for suggesting that you improve your technique - you might as well have been shouting into that Walkie Talkie, "HE'S GOT SOME EDAM, THAT'S EDAM. I REPEAT EDAM", you'd have been less conspicious. :rotfl:

I don't work for Tesco! I guessed because you've mentioned in the past that you are in East Anglia and frequent the Norwich stores. I know of only one store in this region with two floors. :p I was in that store today, mind you. :p

If you have had a couple of r and rs in a store the c/s staff can get quite shi**y.
I went in store yesterday to buy a pc game (not knowing I was going to be overpriced) lo and behold I was. Off I trotted to see my favourite c.s lady who completely ignored me. I finally got served sorted out the misprice and no 2 c/s mutters to no 1 shall I offer her the difference, she looked up and said "oh its her, give her a refund she knows the policy".
I smiled said good morning, how are you today only to be replied with a grunt.
I wasnt even looking for an overprice but if one hits you in the face you have to act on it.
  • One of my local stores, PRESCOT, is very difficult to get R&R. The CS staff I have dealt with are the biggest cheating lying frauds, who like to work in packs. I have set myself a personal challenge to get as much as possible from this store. Does anybody else have a store like this?

Fortunately no , or not yet ! i can easily get to several stores so i vary my shopping routine and come across different members of staff . i have found the ' foreign ' (and i do not wish to start a racial debate here i just wasn't sure how to phrase the word ) members of CS staff to be most polite and helpful for some reason.

I can understand how it must get to you though , just makes you more determined. Good luck .

    Throughly agree here.

I'm not an R+R hunter anymore, just shop round the store and write the prices on my list instead of ticking off the item.

I keep on getting R+R on my weekly shop...so am I supposed to ignore it because I'll be branded a serial R+R er? CS in one store fine, another CS poor...but prefer shopping in the store with the rubbish CS (they have really cool kiddy cars with trolleys attached...a pain to steer, but much more fun if you're nearly 2!)

Well, it's now more than 48 hours since the Security Manager spoke to me and I have not had the promised call.

It's off to Head Office now with a formal complaint.

    Odd.

It will be interesting to see what happens the next time I go in there.

Some sort of public flogging, perhaps even nail you to the big Tesco sign was a warning to other would be R&Rers?

An English CS guy confided in me that it is "the damn foreign staff who can't read English" that were responsible for the wrong SELs in Entertainments.

    Charming.

Hmm. Don't go giving them ideas - though clearly some can't think for themselves, so the ideas will probably come in handy.

I reported the Following Without Explanation incident to HO today as nobody from the store has called me (as arranged) to expliain the situation.
