*Tony* wrote:A question for Constantine, or one of the other Tesco bods
I seem to recall reading in an old thread that the prices are applied by computer nationally from Head Office. Is there any option for a store to say, not apply those price changes at the same time as another store, and perhaps be using an older price for an item for up to 3 or 4 days after other stores changed, or can they manually overide the computer to "fix" a misprice by charging the lower price. The reason i ask is a number of times I have know the price of something from scanning it at 2 or 3 other stores, then i get to another and its still at a different price, take King Kong for PSP for example, the prices changed from 19.94 to 19.97 in several stores I visited and scan checked, but then I came across a store with the 19.94 SEL still in place and thought I was on a winner, but it scanned at that price too. I also see Dysons at different prices in different stores, one store does the allergy at 179.99, another does it at 249.99 and the original is 179.99, then yet another has it at 177?.97. It seems there isnt a national price set for some things and its rather a local option to set a price.
Prices are generally set centrally. There are a few exceptions - High rent areas (such as Oxford Street) have their own pricing structure - but the vast majority of stores have the same prices (Express stores also have a seperate pricing structure). It is possible for stores to alter prices at a local level, but it is not a facility that is used often. Any difference should be claimed back against the stores waste budget...and that is always an emotive figure.
Hope that goes some way to answering your question?Who or what was I before you came in to my life
I am not sure0 -

Yes it does thank you very much, I suspect my nearest store does that a lot then as their prices on the items I check do tend to be different to other stores, in fact I might just go check if their Dyson allergy did come of special offer today or not
Oh and thanks for the heads up on the possible future till change too, I understood why you mentioned it although I tend not to use the till and void method at all. I tend to go for sure bets on the misprices when I can scan them in advance0 -

Tesco are now reading it and checking misprices their own staff have failed to notice, and every second or third day we're having the legality/morality argument now. While this is better for the customer who are overcharged less often, the reason we are mostly here is to get R+Rs. By posting misprices here, we're just making it easier for them to be corrected by the staff instead of by an R+R.
Perhaps we should keep the items we find to ourselves a bit more, or find another way of passing successes on. I got free beer this weekend, which was greatly appreciated and I'd rather like to continue that trend...
I think that's a really good idea. Maybe this thread should be limited readable to only those with 3 or 4 stars by their usernames?0 -
Does the R and R apply to tesco express stores?
Obviously theres no CS but just wondered as I saw three on the meat.
When I paid for the chicken i told them the prices were misleading SEL £2.23 perkilo and on sticker on chicken £2.34. I didn't expect an RnR but was just instead looked at blankly and sent on my way. No complaining over 15p (chicken was 1.5 kg) but should send an email to tescos so they can sort it out?0 -

Yes, all Tesco stores.
There is usually a small sign where the baskets go or by the door saying the usual quote. Contact Dundee they will resolve it, probably.0 -
I was followed by a Store Defective (sic) yesterday. The guy was as subtle as a car crash and I spotted him within two isles. Furtively talking into his radio everytime I picked something up.
So, I let him follow me for a while and then I got narked about it and gave him the slip. Trotted off upstairs and stood on the mezzanine floor watching him try to find me again. I was in full view but it took him three or four minutes to notice me. So, as he came up the Travellator, I went back down in the lift and sure enough, he was on my tail again soon after.
As he dodged around a corner I walked up to him and said, "Why are you following me?"
"I'm not"
"Yes you are"
"We can follow who we like"
"So, you are following me. Why?"
"Suspicicious shopping?"
"Coblers! What's suspiscious about a guy, in shirt sleeves, with a trolley and a shopping list? Why are you following me."
"My Manager told me to"
"Right, I want to speak to your manager"
"Where will you be?"
"I'm sure you'll find me, you been following me since I got here!"
That was the last the I saw of him. Then, his manager turned up and claimed to know nothing about an order to follow me - said he was in a meeting so couldn't have ordered it. I recounted the saga (as above) and he said he'd investigate it and get back to me in 48 Hours. I'm looking forward to the call.
The interesting thing is that the one item that I did find overcharging was the Edam (surprise surprise) and I trolleyed two of them. As I went back down the store, the Grocery Manager was with someone else re-pricing them. So I challenged them and asked why they were re-pricing them.
"We don't want to overcharge our customers".
So I asked then what made today any different from the last three weeks when they'd been happy to overcharge people on the edam (yes, I know people who've had Edam from that store).
"It's only just been brought to our attention", came the reply.
"How, by your security guard watching me?"
It's coming to something when they have to get an ineffective detective to spy on shoppers so that they can get their pricing right. Why is it so difficult to get their own staff, who must be at least partway trained, to do this?
Cowboys, the lot of them.
It will be interesting to see what happens the next time I go in there.0 -

Tesco info to be found on my thread here, would appreciate anyones input. It is a thread meant for the people on Grabit but has been moved by the mods, but it did get a quick few responses when it was in this section:

Just a note of caution from me: Toberlone SEL expired 04/04 with a 2 for £5 offer. However, the offer still works!
It knocks the discount off only when the cashier presses total. So when im looking at the scanner it scanned "wrong", then checked my receipt after paying to discover it had come off...0
