Maybe, but it sounds like misleading pricing to me. Should be the same on both.

The lb price you see is only a guidance. Legally all fresh weighed items have to be sold in kilograms, and that is how the price is worked out. The Lb price is still on packaging, but as a guide. A difference like this would be down to rounding, and would bear no difference on the actual price anyway.

Am not denying that, but still the rounding calculation done on the SEL should be the same as on the product label. No wonder it's hard to keep the prices accurate when you have to calculate whether it's a rounding error or not!

Literally every time I go to Tescos there is at least one meat item overcharging, with the exception of one store who are well on the ball and reprint the yellow repricing barcodes for each item when the price/Kg changes. For a company that made £2.25bn, it's pricing integrity for variable weight products is just not good enough in most stores.

I would not disagree with you there. I feel the only answer to this question is to follow the lead of one certain competitor and have "See Product for Price" on the SEL. I can only imagine the uproar on these boards if that ever happened though...

Grr. From someone who's spent a long time working in retail, this thread is particularly annoying. Firstly, beware of the nature of these posts. Looking to go into a store with the intention of stoozing, or indirectly scamming the shop is illegal firstly. Secondly, it's unneccesary. This isn't moneysaving at all. Nor is it part of the moneysaving ethos. Instead, help the thousands of other customers who are being overcharged by bringing this up with the company involved, rather than exploiting it for yourselves...

    Eep.

Badger, usually when you bring up the point you have been over charged the comapany fix the problem, I am sure if anyone complained to you that somthing was labeled cheaper than what they paid you would have gone and made the nessesery changes yourself.

Prices in Tesco change so often it is unbeliveable, CD's for example usuall selling price seems to be £8.77 when they had the offer of 20% off they were selling at £9.77. they have all the offers changing every week to entyce us in to their stores and make more money they are getting to big and cant keep track of their changes so we go and get a free PSP game or mobile phone every so often. yes there are people that get the items in larger quantities if they have the balls let them I dont want to be banned from a store for the sake of a free cd/phone/camera or peice of meat I take my Gran shopping there.

I had never taken any real notice of prices anywhere before I found this site, I am single living at home with parents earning ~£40k a year my income is pretty much disposable so if I want somthing I would buy it without a 2nd thought recipt either in the bag or in the bin without reading it. I now look at the recipt for everything I buy not just in Tesco and have found that mistakes happen more than they should how many other people do this? this is how Tesco and other stores get extra money from those that are unaware.

I am now aware of how things work and I now save money and sometimes make money, I sold my Prince of persia game I got free becasue it wouldnt work on my PSP with out me upgrading the firmware I I get far better benifits being on 1.5 than to play POP. I made £13 :)

We are NOT having the morality/legality debate again on this thread. Go back and read the arguments presented on the last 18 pages of this thread and all four of the previous discussion threads on this subject, this bit has been argued a hundred times already.

Hopefully Tesco will work to improve their price integrity based on the amount of R+Rs this forum generates.

    So much for free speech...........

Some people are new to this site and are entitled to have ANY debate they want about Tesco mispricing. If it doesn't fit in with your opinion then DISCUSS, don't use bullying tactics by telling others what they can and can't do on their own site.

I think it is wrong that Tesco overcharge but I also think it is wrong for people to go into a shop knowing what the actual price is then have the cheek to say they have been overcharged............

When you say 'retail' I'm assuming you didn't work for a local grocery shop, many of whem have been put out of business by the agressive pricing (and buying) tactics of all the major supermarkets, Tesco most definitely included. Tesco made £2.2 billion profit in the last 12 months, if they ran their stores more efficiently with regard to pricing etc, Heaven knows what the profit figure would have been. They get a slagging for their present massive profits, I reckon people who do R&R are doing them a favour in limiting the slagging Tesco get by reducing their profits to just 'obscene' levels as opposed to 'unbelievable' ones. :rotfl:
I spelt my username wrongly on purpose, by the way!

£2.2bn from £40bn turnover is around 5% profit.

Hardly in the same league as the utilities, banks or oil companies.

Don't believe evrything you read in the papers....I am not saying Tesco are good for local business's but times change and many people (roughly a third of the total UK food spend) go there and then seem to complain once the profits are released.

£2bn is hard for people to swallow but look at what the turnover is before saying profits are "unbelievable".
