I have to agree with you there, i like free stuff as much as the next person but would never commit fraud in order to receive an r+r. It's people like that that spoil it for everybody. Did the guy not realise when he changed the ticket, that you could be visable on cctv anywere in store?
of course i make a mental note of anything i would like an r+r on and have a little look. Last week i got some edam and a couple of bacon joints, on seperate visits to different stores. My first r+rs ever.
people like this spoil r+r for the rest of us, an i amagine we will eventually lose it.
At the same time, we should only take what we need or can phisically use.
That bloke is a nutter and i would not have blamed tescos for calling the police. being out of pocket for three copies of family guy is nothing compared to a criminal record for fraud. gggggggrrrrrrr:mad:
Had my say, ill go now.:A0 -
Speaking from my own experience, getting the Police down of an evening for anything short of drug use, gun use or ABH (all real examples
) puts you in for a long wait. Two people having to sit with a thief for up to two hours when you know that chances are at best they will get a caution is an impact you just dont need sometimes.
Who or what was I before you came in to my life
I am not sure0 -
No matter what time or day of night it is I would have also dealt with it in this way. These people make it harder gor genuine rnrs0

Although it would be preferable for someone like this to be arrested, the reasons for not doing are quite understandable.
I hope you marked his receipt so that he could not get a refund anywhere else.0 -
From Post #721
'he then asked for a normal refund following the 28 day policy. As he was barred, he was asked to leave the building and his details emailed to all the local stores so he could not get a refund anywhere.'0 -

GRFC, it seems to me that there must be lots of this going on if you personally dealt with this incident less than a month after you told us all about someone getting arrested for doing the same thing.
Do Tesco have double standards, getting one "alleged" criminal arrested and letting the other one allegedly walk away?
If you have CCTV footage this is an open and shut case, surely the police shold be involved.
The reason for catching him is that we have had a spate of thefts from the entertainment section....I don't believe there is a lot of what I reported going on....so we happened to be watching that area when he wanted to do his deed.
As for double standards....each case would be different with different levels of fraud and as non violent "shoplifting" (which is how the police view incidents like this) are only cautionable it was not worth the minimum 90 mins wait on a Friday night for the police to arrive.
His image and car reg will be passed over to the police so they can link him to any other problems.
PS...Cat amongst the pidgeons time.....When you go to a scanner and check the price and then go to the CSD and claim a R+R THAT is fraud as you have been informed of the correct price of the goods and then claim otherwise. Any legal beagles out there check that out against the law and inform me otherwise.0 -

But and the BIG but is that the Tesco policy doesn't state that prior knowledge of a possible overcharge rules out invoking it.
Knowingly paying more than the advertised price is not fraud. Subsequently drawing attention to it, together with the Tesco policy is not fraud.0 -
Can somebody please explain the large/extra large chicken deals ? I know that some chickens labelled Large (should be up to 1.99kg) priced at 1.80/kg actually fall into the Extra Large (2.05,2.1 kg etc) weight category and should be charges at 1.78/kg. (this is listed on the misprices thread).
Does this really count as a misprice as the description is wrong too ? My locals got loads but they are a bit funny in there and I'd like to be sure of my grounds !ELITE 5:2

I am not saying Tesco's advertised policy states that, I am asking someone with legal knowledge to clarify the situation....
BTW the policy states overcharged against the product or SEL yet people still try to get R+R's on banner, leaflet or newspaper prices and bend the rules to suit themselves....You deserve a R+R if you find that the advertised policy fits.0 -

But the scanner does not always give the price.
