Thought I'd experienced some horrors in the past - at least I've never been robbed.
Take them to the cleaners mate - start with a missive by recorded delivery to the Chief Exec - I would want my goods, my money back and a hefty goodwill gesture and a formal letter of apology from the !!!!!!!o manager.
Good luck

And I'd want a cast iron guarrantee that CS greet me with a smile on all my future RRs.0 -

Hope you don't mind the public reply.
On the whole I think it's a bad idea to get the likes of Watchdog et al involved - they will have their own agenda.
The experience of Tesco actually thieving as was described is terrible - like I said I would go to the Chief Exec and demand mucho compo.
If you search on my posts you will find the incident where I was surrounded by Tesco staff.
Like most people here - whether it be a piece of meat of a zillion mp3 players- the majority of mis-prices that we go for are done knowingly.
Now please - don't let's get into the morality of R&R - each to their own Dudes.....
I don't agree with Tesco CS giving R&R seekers a hard time - but I can put myself in their shoes and understand their perception of R&Rs not shopping in the spirit of the price promise - but like I said I don't agree with such a view.
My work and beloved Tom Tom took my down south this week - I visited Tescos in Cirencester, Swindon, Newbury, Winchester and Southampton - where I got a R&R the staff were by and large friendly.
But for every 70 happy CS staff, and 25 begrudging CS staff, you will get 5 grumpy !!!!!!s who give you a hard time.
I for one want to see R&R in place for a long time - my family are getting used to organic chicken and chips for frigs sake!!
A public campaign would not help the cause to keep R&Rs going.
There endeth the lesson.
The reading will come from the Book of Tesco, Chapter One, Customer Services Refunds Policy versus 10 to 24.
I'll get me coat

welche2, how you have been treated is disgusting even by Tesco standards. Just one thing, was the manager aware you had actually paid for the goods? He could have thought you were trying to question it before paying. I am by no means making any excuses for this clearly insane and power crazed individual though.
I think your first port of call has to be the store. Either phone, or turn up and demand to speak to the store manager. Go in the day time, as at night they only have a few staff in. See what they have to say on the matter. My advice would be not to go in guns blazing (I know this is hard considering the way you have been treated) but shouting off about Police and Trading Standards etc won't get you too far. By all means mention the fact that they have broken the law, and that the Police and Trading standards would be interested, but be calm with whoever you speak to.
Your next call is head office. Even if you get a satisfactory resolution from the store still go to head office. Phone the freefone number, and write to them, perhaps even the cheif exec (his name is Terry Leahey). Also send any letters by recorded so they can't deny it ever arrived. Again, mention the police and TS, but please try and keep a calm tone, ranting and raving is just going to hit it off on the wrong note from the start.
I would also give your local Police a ring. They will be able to give you your rights on how you stand as well as giving you advice on how to tackle the problem. They may decide they need to drop in on the store themselves or even accompany you. Do this sooner rather than later (i.e. now) the longer you leave it they will be less interested and question why you have left it so long to report.
The press is a strange one. You could go to them, but it all depends on how public you want all this to be. Perhaps it would help your cause, but again it depends on you wanting the attention. I wouldn't do this straight away, give it a few days to a) see how you feel, and b) give Tesco a chance to resolve this debacle. Furthermore these press articles, while drawing Tesco in a bad light, will soon be forgotten and are unlikely to force people to Sainsbury or Asda. that is my opinion though.
Like I said, I know its very hard, the way you have been treated is awful, but do try and remain calm with all correspondance, it will get your further in the end. Screaming and shouting will just put the defence barrier up with whoever you have contact with.
Good luck with resolving this.0 -
its not watch dog just a program like builders from hell, neighbours from hell etc but about customer services anywhere not just about tesco.
called 'are we being served'
so here is the first ammendment to the Lesson from Book of Tesco, Chapter One, Customer Services Refunds Policy versus 10 to 24.

I saw the PSP game king kong today wrongly priced as mentioned on here and thought id take advantage. Took it to cs after paying for it and almost wished i hadnt bothered after the way i was treated
At first the cs girl said that it was only a 3p overcharge and she would have to call the manageress, when she arrived i was quizzed about if this was my only purchase and why didnt i inform the checkout operator at the time!
After thirty mins i eventually got R&R....once they had taken my name and addy, made me feel like a criminal.
This was my first R&R (and probably my last) and this was in the Merthyr Tydfil store......so thanks for posting.£2.00 savers club started 17/04/2006......total so far £10.000 -

i bought yesterday the Panasonic microwave sel 49.97 charged 59.97 offer did not finish until end 19.4.06 also bought a v3 mobile offer still on shelves at electrical desk spend £40 and get £20 off a v3 razor phone on tesco mobile.
i bought a few other items like milk and frozen food. i had gone into the shop at 11. 30pm.
paid for the items while somebody went to fetch the phone told the person on the till that the prices were different to what the signs had said.
duty manager was fetched and told me the offers were now out of date and that the price on my till receipt was correct. mind u after waiting for him it was now 12.00am the microwave offer had just finished . i told him about the policy on the wall in front of him. he said it did not apply as the offers had finished but i said the microwave one was valid when i bought it. he then told me he was going to withdraw the items off me and told to leave the store. i managed to grab my receipt from customer services desk as i was escorted off the premises without a refund and my goods. i am now £170 missing from my wallet and with a receipt for items i have bought but haven't got. i am in shock Ive been robbed by a a duty manager of my cash. also am going to the police to seek advice .
anyone got the customer services number in Dundee so i can get my money back or the items Ive paid for. im worried that he will try to cover up his mistake and take the cash as a refund himself even though nothing is on my receipt for being refunded.
I've kept from posting in this thread for some time, it was heading off track and had turned into a boasting thread. I have however followed what has been happening.
The incident described above is simply disgraceful and I join those condemning the actions of the Tesco representatives involved. Welche2, although it is not much at the moment, please be assured that the person concerned is not representative of all Tesco staff.
I cannot offer you any better advice than has already been posted, particularly by bagand however I would wish you every luck in persuing your claim.Fight Poverty - Hit a tramp!

I don't know if this one will "wash" with tesco's refund policy as I have never done it before.
I just had a flyer through the door with a section on mobile phone offers. It shows pictures of the phones with a "bubble" showing the price ontop of the relevant phone. They have a picture of a Motorola Pebl normal about £150 I think, priced up at £59.97. They have phone names underneath and it reads V220, so I think this is the phone it is supposed to show, but some of the other phone names are jumbled up so it appears more random and not part of the pictures. As this has appeared in a leaflet and not something specific in-store will it still work?
It does say at the bottom of the leaflet "prices and details correct at time of going to press but subject to change..." so I guess not. I just thought it might be worth asking some of you more experienced tesco mispricers.
Would appreciate any help - my son is desperate for a flip-phone and this one looks great as he can't afford one otherwise.Irony.

Im supprised the way you were treated with the game, I have received prince of persia and king kong the other week without any issue, it seems that the only bring it up with a manager if the item is in excess of £200

No, you can't do anything I'm afraid. The leaflet was a big c*ck up, but this has been noticed by Tesco. Disclaimers have been put onto the phone stands in store reading along the lines "In our April special offer flyer the incorrect image for this handset was displayed. The correct image is the one shown here. We apologise for any inconvinience caused". Unfortunately, as long as the disclaimer is displayed Tesco are under no obligation to do anything other than apologise, especially as the correct model numbers were shown.0
