If you knew what this thread was about when you clicked on it, then maybe you should be the one not reading on! Also perhaps you should proof read your post before posting it as most of it does not make sense.0

There is nothing wrong with the post. its easy to understand and i agree with the contents wholly. Greed gets a lot of people annoyed and there are valid arguments to both sides of the argument im sure this is going to create.
R&R is such a touchy subject for some people. Perhaps its because they feel the greed inside themselves and feel guilty about it.
I look forward to reading any critical complaints that im sure certain people will be making about this post.
P.s I know i have missed out capital letters, punctuation marks and have made several spelling mistakes, but frankly i dont care.
P.P.S floflo i pressed your thanks button my mistake.Watch out, you never know who is about.0 -

I agree with you in principal, yes the policy is being abused, by the staff only offering the difference and by the likes of you and I going into Tescos looking for overpriced goods each time we visit. Watchdog highlights the issue/problem and therefore the end of the r and r policy will definately be in sight.
Its prob best to keep quiet about it, keep on getting r and rs and be happy with their current policy0 -
Flo when I said this board I actually meant the whole Money saving board I happened on this thread by chance. Apologies for mispelling etc I am dyslexic.
Thankyou lordexavier for your post.

It is illegal for shops to sell things at more than their advertised price. The fines involved are quite large (I think the shop is charged per mispriced item, and I believe it's as much as £1,000 per item... you do the maths).
Now I guess we could do the honest thing and report T to trading standards.
Alternatively we can accept their "kind gesture" and keep quiet (apart from, of course, updating the misprice forum). If they are then too dumb to take corrective action then is it really our fault?
T obviously knows what it is doing, and it r&r policy is there for a reason (as they are not in the business of handing out freebies). So make the most of it, and feel no remorse. It's not every day you get something for nothing.0 -

i don't think the law on this is as straightforward as you imply. like the old wives tale about the shop having to sell you something at the price marked up on the goods....that is complete twaddle ..they don't in law0 -
Agreed... but it is considered to be false advertising.0

Well I am glad to be seeing more voices of reason regarding the morality and rights and wrong of deliberate purchasing of mispriced items in order to get R&R.
I have posted extensively on this thread highlighting this issue (just search for them and I am sure you will appreciate the content).
Someone mentioned that the R&R abuse has been on the watchdog program… can they please say a bit more about it as I did not see the program. Thanks
Also someone asked reg. Warranty with R&Red items and another person replied that your statutory rights aren't effected which is quite True BUT one thing it most important to highlight.
If when getting the R&Red item the CS writes refunded on your receipt…. Then you have no way of proving that you retained the item (i.e. not returned refund) therefore difficult to exercise statutory rights without proof of purchase as according to the receipt the item has been returned and money refunded.
You should always ask CS to add Over Charge (OC) on the receipt when R&Red (i.e. when they write refunded on the receipt). That is a refund due to an overcharge. That way, the receipt indicates that the money was refunded, yes, but the item was not returned; therefore you can use the receipt as proof of purchase to maintain/exert your statutory right. This is a minor point, but will make all the difference when you need to use the receipt to exercise your statutory rights later on should anything go wrong with the item.0 -

In legal terms the sel is considered an invitation to treat, they could watch it come up on the till and then say, we can't sell it you at the price advertised, but once they've accepted your money it's a different matter.0
