Also, earlier someone mentioned about Watch dog, I dont thik that Tescos has been on there, but someone thought it might be a good idea if the r and r policy be exposed. I dont personally think this is a good idea, (last year they exposed a problem with the spare wheel on the zafira being stolen, lo and behold mine got nicked a week later - new wheel cost £175 excess on insurance £150. plus no claim bonus!!)

I think we should just expose our r and r finds on here and thank mr t in our own little way.

I suppose YOU may be getting something for nothing but EVERYONE else will have to pay for it. Use the policy but don't abuse it.

Everyone will have to pay for it a lot more if Tesco get lots and lots of fines for breaking the law. I'm sure the loss through R&R is a tiny fraction of the cost of fines. Why don't you understand it's a win-win situation?

An army of money savvy shoppers doing free work for Tesco (hey, checking all those prices can be time consuming, and at the end of the day either we do it or their staff do). Their staff get paid an hourly rate, we just get the product for free as a thanks for our time - but Tesco save on the fines!

R&R is a wink, wink, nudge, nudge system to keep us happy so pricing problems can be rectified and Trading Standards need not be informed. Surely that's much cheaper and better for ALL customers, especially the non-R&R'ers who would have to foot the bill for lots of fines otherwise!?

Hammy, its the Price Marking Order trading rules that they are breaking, read back through this and the previous discussion area threads and you'll find it.

This is covered by specific trading laws, it's not the same as Distance Selling contract law as though you bought something online.

amosworks is exactly right, I've said the same thing higher up. No-one is losing out here, we all play by these rules until if and when they change, after which we play by the new rules. Which are likely to involve calling TS every time we're overcharged in Tesco.

Probably fifty times now people come on and say it's immoral, but seriously, that argument has been put forward, considered and rejected just as many times.

Moving on fom the "is it right or is it wrong" argument!

If Finest stuff doesn't have the yellow SEL, does that mean its not been reduced (subject to it scanning at that price of course)? I've seen loads of stuff that just gives a price on a white label, but unless you know what the price was, how can you prove its not been reduced??

And, (not a misprice but) what IS going on with the Narnia single disc - after the offer of £9.96 expired, half the stores have put the price UP to £14.76, and half seem to have reduced it to £9.75 - sometimes in stores that are a stones throw away from each other. I know some stores have slightly different prices to each other because of loacl markets, but this seems to be quite a sizeable difference??

Probably because some stores have adjusted the price internally on their systems and others haven't bothered.

Also looks like its a fill your boots weekend loads of wrong prices on meat and I just noticed aswell as 20% off finest there's 25% off legs of lamb.
  • Does anyone know what the situation is where an item is placed behind the wrong SEL?

My Mum picked up some Douwe Egberts coffee yesterday, but it had been all been put out behind a SEL for Tesco Gold coffee. Obviously, she didn't read the label description and just picked up a couple of Jars. She noticed she had been charged too much and the customer service staff gave her back the difference in price. Should she have got a full refund?

Good luck. HO promised me a full refund in very similar circumstances to those you describe. A month later, I'm still waiting.

    SJB

    SJB- contact HO again.

i got my giftcard through the post this morning...not bad after ringing HO CS on Monday afternoon to complain.

Have decided to return to store to get managers name to write a letter to, and to check if price is now 20% less than I paid for it.

This R+R wouldn't bother me so much if I hadn't had the shelf edge label team leader tell me the SEL was correct and the product should have been downpriced but hadn't been, and this information over-ruled by the duty manager...and the whole thing taking 45 minutes.

You didn't have any frozen items did you? That is the one thing I hate about doing R&R's is that you could be left waiting for 10-15mins (or more in your case) just for the CS person to track down the item on the shelf. Meanwhile your frozen items are slowly defrosting - God forbid when summer comes   !
