If I recall, all the mobile phone offers end today, so hopefully all the SEL's will remain, but the computers will update to the higher prices.0

Please be kind - i'm very new here and not sure how things work ! I need advice on whether Tesco have just pulled a fast one on me. Store has loads of 20% of All Finest Foods posters etc and just about all the Finest Range have bright yellow sels showing the 'before' price crossed out and the new price with the 20% reduction - absolutely no confusion possible. I picked up 3 packs of different Finest Range pate - all of which had the ordinary black/blue/white sels £1.51 (no yellow 'reduction' labels and nothing to indicate that the price had been reduced). I also picked up a Finest Range duck - again, no yellow sels with the old and new prices and the duck had a cardboard wrapper on it with a pre-printed price of £9.59. There was nothing at all to show that the prices on either the pate or the duck had been reduced already and, as the instore advertising clearly said ALL Finest foods were reduced by 20% I assumed the price at the till would be 20% less than on the product.
I was charged the full price and, inspite of all my comments, they insisted the products were not mispriced and that the 20% had already been taken off. A man behind me was also querying the price of the duck as well. I think this is very sharp practice and I don't see how it can be true - the man behind me had also bought some Finest Sausages and they had a price on the pack but scanned at 20% less than the pack price so I don't see how they can argue that all the pack prices already show the reduction. I don't believe they have had time to print a load of cardboard package sleeves with the price reduction applied - and what will they do with any of the stock labelled £9.59 which is still left tomorrow when I understand the special offer finishes. It should go back to the full price of around £11 odd but I don't see how it can if the price still says £9.59.
Surely they are misleading the customer - how can anyone possibly be sure that the price reduction has been applied if there is no yellow price reduction label. Tesco could say any price they liked and we just wouldn't knowELITE 5:2

Welcome to the boards!
It seems you have got this exactly right...I was told my finest products had already been reduced on Monday...going back into the store today I have seen the 20% off reductions now applied.
If you aren't having any luck making the store understand your complaint, I suggest you look online at the new and old price of the duck here.
www.tesco.com
If the price you paid corresponds to the old price, then give Customer service a ring on 0800 505555 and see if you get any joy there...you won't get a cash refund, but tesco gift vouchers which cover the cost of the duck.
All the best.Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?

I dont know if this helps, but yesterday I checked out ALL the Finest products across the store. Most had yellow SEL's or stickers or white SEL's with the original price and the new 20% discount price. They also had a few just plain white SEL's with 1 price on and no stickers on the stock. I picked all of these up and made a note of the price. At the checkout I asked the SA to check the price as each item went through so I could check if there was a reduction at the till. 2 items WERE reduced at the till, the rest went through unchanged. These were the ones I took to CS and they refunded no problem because the SEL showed the price I was charged and no indication of a reduction.DTD - Doing Tesco Daily - while I still have vouchers!0

Thanks for the info - thats what I thought should happen. The items went through at the full price with no 20% reduction and I thought it was an overcharge. The staff, including the Duty Manager , insisted that they don't make pricing mistakes and the reduction had been applied before the items went on sale. I couldn't prove it hadn't been taken off but the fact that the guy behind me in the queue had sausages which certainly got reduced by 20% at the till seemed to refute their argument that ALL items with prices had the correct price after the reduction. The same thing should have happened with the duck and pate ie 20% taken off at the till.
They really were quite unpleasant to me - kept telling me not to shout and generally making me feel like I was pulling a fast one. The guy in the queue with another duck kept saying 'she's not shouting - she's just making a valid point'. I NEVER shout at staff - I used to run a busy CS dept myself and I've got no patience with anyone who shouts. The really annoying thing is, I wanted the darn duck - I wasn't actually looking for misprices, I just thought the duck and the pate was a bargain at the price less 20% ! I only mentioned the RR policy cos she insisted that the price had already been reduced. In fact, she then produced a yellow sel for the duck which did show a higher price and also the 20% reduced price - but she admitted that label was not on the shelf, she had produced it from the office files. If that label had been on the shelf then I wouldn't have had a case (wouldn't have picked the duck up either at that price!). She couldn't tell me what the full price for the pate was though. I will certainly contact head Office and see what they say. Unless the shelf or pack price shows the 20% reduction I don't see they have any option but to take 20% off the price - all the instore advertising very clearly says that 20% reductions apply across the board. Surely they can't get away with advertising a reduced price when customers can't tell what the full price was ? The more I think about this the crosser I am - I don't feel I can ever go back to that store again with any sort of query as they've marked my card now.ELITE 5:2
