Just a quick update on my pate and duck problem. I phoned head Office and a very nice lady sympathised but said she would get the local store manager to phone me. He did phone but just reitereated the party line ie all Finest Foods have had 20% taken off before they go on sale and whether or not the reduction is shown on a yellow sticker is irrelevant. I asked how customers were supposed to know the reduction had come off - especially as some items with prices on the pack were scanning at 20% less at the till and he said 'you just have to trust us '! He eventually accepted that customers might be confused by this but said his staff were correct and he wasn't prepared to do anything for me. he also said i had intimidated his Duty Manager and that was why she brought a male manager with her to speak to me. As , at that point ,she hadn't even spoken to me let alone seen me, I can't see how she could have been intimidated ! If anyone was intimidated it was me - I had the CS lady, an assistant, the duty manager and another manager all grouped round me insisting I was up a gum tree ! They all kept telling me not to shout - I wasn't shouting, I'm very quietly spoken and even the man in the queue behind me kept telling them i wasn't shouting and to stop having a go at me. The Manager has now said that he doesn't feel this was handled properly & that his duty Manager should not have brought yet another manager with her and should have spoken to me privately. Apparently she's only had the job 2 weeks. I have to accept what he says about the prices - although that clearly doesn't fit in with what others on here have found - but I'm totally P***** off with the attitude - if a senior manager is going to say they are intimidated by any little old lady who very politely says she thinks she has been overcharged then something is badly wrong. Stuff Tesco's - I'm off to Asda !

Yes - when CS scan your receipt for an R&R the clubcard number allows them to see if they choose - your recent transactions.

So if CS see a list of repeat R&Rs they may give you a hard time.

My advice - use cash and no clubcard.

That is simply not true. There is no access in store to view recent transactions linked to an individual club card. Data protection would be an issue apart from anything else.

I have always used my clubcard, even when I was hoping to R&R after, never had a problem with using it or points being removed - the most difficult cs I had was on my first R&R.

Probably said to put people off R&R, I think the more times they've overcharged you the nicer they should be. ;)

Just to stick my nose in here but Constantine is correct. There is no transaction viewing function like that on the till. There are some basic clubcard functions on the customer service desk tills but searching for transactions is not on there.

  • Hi all,

Just discovered this site and have spent hours of wonder looking at the bargains I've missed out on and the ones I could get. This is a basic question on R&R but trying to find basic answers out of 5 threads is like looking for the proverbial needle. I took a wander around Tesco's today and spotted Finest Gammon priced at £13.98 but SEL stating £10.98, did a test scan and it came in at £10.98, I assuming this would scan the same at the checkouts therefore no R&R?

What do you guys look for when identifying potential R&R's? Is it just the yellow stickered items?

    Sorry for the stupid questions.

Yes - that would be no r and r as you have been charged the correct amount. Recently ended offers or variable weight products are probably your best hunting grounds (but there are bigger experts than me on that here :D )

    Welcome back Tars ;)

Other thing is to look for double shelf labels that display different prices these are usually on the normal shelf and a special on a n end of row, check the price scans at the higher one and you shouldnt have a problem getting r+r.
Fine items with a sticker saying 1 price and a SEL displaying another higher price descretly compair the barcode on the product and the SEL if they match then the SEL price is what you should get charged again try to check the price just to be sure.

You may be correct that you cannot view this function through a till, but on the back office system there is a way of find the past 13 weeks worth of transactions.....a clubcard number is a very easy (if time consumming) way of using the electronic journal.

BTW a store would not have the time to use this system unless they were having a very slack day. It is mainly used to check on "inside" fraud such as misuse of staff discount cards or till shorts.
