The question is does the clubcard number come up on the refund receipt, it has never shown as doing so on mine. If you use a debit/credit card to pay and refund then yes payments and refunds could be searched for on the system but if the clubcard doesn't link to the refunds, which it appears it doesn't, then all you would find when searching a clubcard number would be sales not refunds.

I used to R&R at one particular store very regularly - always used my clubcard.

I visited another store very rarely and did the odd R&R.

A few months ago the second store gave me a real hard time over a very small R&R - I ended up surrounded by loads of staff, management and security.

I was later advised that CS may have used the bar code on my receipt to access my clubcard - and recent transactions - that would have shown multiple R&Rs - hence the hard time.

Since this time I never use my clubcard when I'm getting a R&R - and never had the kind of problem described above.

Also I do an on-line shop each week - usually claim an extra 1,000 points - my quarterly statment from Tesco is usually in excess of £60 of deals - £240 in real terms.

So I wouldn't want to put this in jeopardy!!

You may be correct that you cannot view this function through a till, but on the back office system there is a way of find the past 13 weeks worth of transactions.....a clubcard number is a very easy (if time consumming) way of using the electronic journal.

BTW a store would not have the time to use this system unless they were having a very slack day. It is mainly used to check on "inside" fraud such as misuse of staff discount cards or till shorts.

Slack?!? Thats a soul destroying job! :D

The full CC number is not printed on the receipt, so you would have to hand over the card for that kind of check to even be attempted. As you say, it is there to check errors/fraud or to get a proof of purchase.

There is no way for the CS staff to access this from the desk.

I have doubt as to the accuracy of what you have stated. I understand that if you have a Tesco personal finance clubcard (the green one that gives you double points) then if you pay with it and do a R&R it would show up because the refund has gone back on the card…. But if you don't pay for your shopping with such clubcard and merely used it to get the points (or used the standard clubcards) and get the refund in cash or on another card then how can R&R show up through clubcards records otherwise?

It can not and does not.

The EJ is used for many more things than that believe me. Also looking through 13 weeks for a single clubcard is simply not viable. Any store management that does that looking for an R&R'er needs a slap and a better grip on reality.

Just back from a big T's and there are lots of t mobile phones offer exp 16/4/06, but none of the prices have changed. Is this a scam by t's to make people buy the phone thinking the offer expires or has the pricing system just not caught up due to the bank holiday ect?

Sorry but this is rubbish, there is no dept in Tesco that deals with this depth of info, i should know.

But they do profiling on your Clubcard and what you buy, hence the pink coupons on the your Clubcard mailing every quarter are for new things and the light blue for the stuff you normally buy. The transactions on your CC are used for market research and not to find Rn R custs....breathe easy lol

Tesco Batley, lots of mobile phones with out of date special offer yellow labels, the one I tried came up at the offer price, someone might get lucky if they try some of the others..
