Here's a poser.......
Recently (4 months ago) the price scanners were removed at the North Harbour,Portsmouth store. One was replaced.....which since then has said "Please contact a member of staff" whilst the other Check Point still has the wires dangling.....is it me or are Mr T not wanting you to check prices.....
I'm always warey of going upto member of staff with TV under me arm saying "can u check the price of this for me" because you know damn well as soon as you walk away they're going to do a double check on the SEL.....
Has any other stores seen their scanners "vanish"?What should I put in here that won't upset people.........0 -
A question for all you folk getting MP3 players, phones etc.- in my local you buy items like that by grabbing a DVD case with the barcode on it, and then taking the case and receipt to the CS desk to collect the actual item after you've paid at the till. Is that just a local security measure because there are a lot of robbing gits round here, or do you all have the chutzpah to collect the item from CS and then say "thanks- now give me a full refund"?:rotfl:0

It is best to take the empty case to the CS with the receipt & get your goods, then walk outside to your car or whatever. Then return to the CS desk & tell them you have been overcharged. If you say i have been overcharged BEFORE getting the actual goods you run the risk of the CS saying "im sorry but the item is out of stock",i usually say "i got to my car & checked my receipt & noticed i have been overcharged".0

There is a huuuge evil conspiracy by tesco to remove all scanners!! :rotfl:Auntie Savingsgirl 24/9/06 :j0 -
Nope, in fact, our local store has put in 2/3 new scanners. It only had one scanner by the clothing department and now has 3 that I can think of, possibly 4.0

I've come across Tesco stores where broken scanners have been fixed a few weeks later.
So I don't believe there is any conspiracy - just seems to be low down on the 'to do' list.
In fact one Tesco I visited in Cornwall had a sign next to a broken scanner advising where the second store scanner was located.
If you can't find a scanner, my advice is to approach a member of staff - I go for a Home Shopper as the chances of any contact between this Dude and a CS Dude is minimal - and ask them.
It goes without saying don't do this clutching your TV/Dyson/47 Mp3 players.
Or if you want to be covert - do a walk though the middle-aisle - aka Terminator search mode - scanners are usually located in the pet food aisle, clothing area, home entertainment area or smelly deodrant area.
Good luck,

I think you're right, yes. As I've said before, I've r+r'd some great stuff like playstations and it's great to do! Especially if it's someone who was only expecting a fiver back and they get the item for free.
However I've had some people who's thrown things at me (an open tub of pasta salad is on which springs to mind) before they've even started talking to me. They just assume I'm going to get stroppy and kick off. I do admit, I've been shocked at how some of the CSD staff have talked to customers, but I don't. I believe in treat others how you'd like to be treated. And when I've complained in shops before I've recievedd bad treatment, so I know how annoying it can be!xxx

I'd like to come to your store, where do you work!!! :rotfl:It's BOUGHT (to Buy), not BROUGHT (to bring) AND you cannot be frauded, only DEfrauded.
Please do not buy animals from a pet store. Visit your local sanctuary or centre and give a good home to an unloved or abandoned animal.0
