I was in Tescos on Saturday getting a R&R on two legs of lamb mispriced.

First the CS person went to check and bring back the SEL.
Then she came back and used the loud speaker system to summon the Meat guy.
The they had a heated discussion about why the SEL was still out. Meat guy blames the PI department. The conversation between the 2 was very tense and even downright hostile at times. It was like a boss giving someone a good ticking off.
The conversation ends with the CS person telling me "someone has messed up big time" before refunding my cash.
That was a total of 23 minutes. I timed it.

I saw the manager on the way out and explained what happened and today got a letter of apology and a £20 shopping voucher.

Ironically the £20 is more expensive than the R&R.

If you get bad service, complain!

    Some Bozo.

I work for tesco's customer services desk (though not on the moment as I'm on maternity, which is soon to end :( ) and I've fully refunded quite a few big things, like tv's and playstations. I love doing it when the customer is surprised or just lovely and you feel happy for them. But then you get the people who come and tell you your job and do it every week, and they do wear you down. If you find something is wrong, start off by asking nicely. If someone's nice to me then I go out of my way to help them. But if they're funny with me or argue straight away or throw things at me and call my some awful names, as some people do, I'm awkward back.

Great post Princessa - can we all learn from this?

What could be more pleasant. Just the sort of Customer Service we are wanting. Genuine smiles and greetings both ways even if it relates to RR.
Maybe a few RRers do go in on the defensive but much better to sort it all out normally.

Perhaps a few go to the customer service desk with an adrenaline rush and a preconcieved expectation of what the reaction will be?
Who or what was I before you came in to my life
    I am not sure

This is sure a great thought and I am surely against Tesco with it's mean policy to strip the local shops of their business.

Let's fight the policy and make the T's aware that we are aware customers and not just freebie lover ... hurt them where it hurts the most ... and yes keep your eyes open and never miss a chance to get a FREE xBox when you are overcharged but don't make it a point to make this a business and earn vacation by chucking it on ebay !!

Guess that was too noble..... come on... grab Tesco !!!!

Hand a grand experience on Friday. Have been keeping an eye on my receipts (not deliberately R&R hunting, more to ensure no mistakes) for the past few months, and all was well until last Friday. In my quick scan down the list I realised that till had scanned my 1 small jar and 1 large jar of marmite as 2 small jars. Not wanting anyone to get into trouble I went over to CS desk to offer to pay the extra. CS lady was absolutely flabbergasted and had no idea how to put through an extra on the undercharge. She went away to chat with someone (I presume senior) who came over, thanked me profusely (ehhh?) and told me I could keep it without paying the difference. Maybe Tesco's are as bad at undercharging as they are overcharging?

3- For the ones who have been banned from Tesco….this is likely to be an infringement of your human rights and is likely to be challengable under the European convention for human rights.

    hi Big Mama,

Wise words - I think we should all be sensible about it.

I'd just like to add that I think Tesco's can ban you from their stores if they want to as it's private property - just like you don't have to let anyone in your house, if you decide you don't want them there - you don't have to have a reason.

I used to be a store manager - not at Mr T's thank goodness!
