  • Hi everybody, me again! Hope you are all well.

Another question - as most of these misprices are for meat or poultry by the weight, how do you broach this subject with customer services? I mean, if a book has a sticker on whereby the SEL does not match, then that to me is fairly 'easy' but these other products that go by the weight, well, you know, what do you say to them? i.e Look I've just bought 6pks of chicken breasts and i've been overpriced for each of them because the shelf price label stating the weight per pound said this and the label printed on the pack says another and also its gone through at the pack price. Is it as easy as this or am I missing something.??:confused:

I've only tried r+r with books and the pavlovas you see, i'm quite a novice.

(Thinking of buying a bigger freezer tho - if this proves fruitful).;)

    I just say :

"I have overcharged on this meat. The Shelf says it should be £3.99 per kilo, but the pack has £4.99 per kilo".

And thats it. Off she goes to check and brings back the SELs and I'm done.

Sometimes I say words to the effect ..'I thought the label on the shelf was cheaper/special offer & the discount hasn't come off, I've only just noticed as I was putting it into my coolbag' etc. But usually I say as little as possible so that I can't fumble it and embarrass myself.

I have discovered though that many staff have to have the price/kilo explained - all they initially seem to check is that the overall price on the pack is the same as the price on my receipt. I haven't worked out if they are trying to pretend in the hope that I'll go away.

after a marathon R+R session last night, one store, I felt quite guilty

the poor cashier woman was very upset as she said she'd get 'told off' for not checking the prices (SEL's were one price, stickers on items were another, scanned at higher price)

what's the human cost of R+R?, who gets the blame?, are there consiquences?

    thanks guys...........

heh, well, had to happen sooner or later

I got 'banned' for R+R at a local-ish store, the store manager remembered me from when I got a load of meat + cheese in the 20% off a few months back

they refused to give me the £80 worth of items I bought last night (CS closed so had to go back today, 34 mile round trip!), but they did give me my money back and said that 'i'm not allowed to have R+R at that store again', it was an iligitemate purchase (9 items on the receipt, only 1 wasnt R+R ;-)

i know that was technically wrong, but, hey, the way I see it, I had a good run there over the last year, i was acting against the nature of the offer, so I said 'fair enough' very nice, had a nice chat with CS and left the store.............only to go to a closer store and get almost the same items on R+R, so, everyone wins (except tesco)

moral of the story, I don't care that i'm banned from R+R-ing, morally, they were right to do it, in future i'll get a 'mule' ;-)

Strawberry pavalova and blackforest gateux. someone else mentioned also that it came off as discount in one store but not in another. Ah well musn't grmble. some you win some you don't

I've just been into a local Tesco where they know me and hate giving the R+R, I bought Raspberry and Strawberry pavlova, and the checkout operator scanned the strawberry twice, the discount didn't come off, at CS she tried both and the discount would have worked with the raspberry one. So 2 strawberry with the 2 for £3 flashed on the box are going to be your best bet.
There is nothing either good or bad but thinking makes it so.

So, I'm a very newbie at this R&R so apologies if this has already been covered.

Went into a store today and saw a Nintendo DS game (Tetris DS) with a yeelow SEL of £27.97, but the offer was only valid until 18th June. I assumed this meant it would go through at the non offer price. I scanned it at one of those price check machines but it did say £27.97. I put it back as didn't want to risk it charging the right price, but would it have been this price, or not? *Confused* I assumed if the offer had finished, it would charge a higher price?
