You've got yourself a couple of full priced products for full price as r&r does not apply to Tesco.com so best left where they are really and go get some free ones from your local store!

Hate to spoil the party but this isnt quite correct. As outtatheway has stated the discount isnt applied until the products have left the store. The reason that the discounts arent shown on the dotcom website is that you could be ordering for 2 days or 2 weeks time. The offers could well have finished by the time that your order is delivered (particularly if your order is delivered on a wednesday) and therefore any discounts that show on the website may not apply as the promotion may have changed. The website does show any multisaves that you have added to your basket that will finish before your shopping is delivered.

Whilst having an overcharge refunded today (a very restrained 2 packets of bacon), manager-y looking type bloke who happened to be behind CS desk at the time, turned to the CSA doing the refund and pointing to the sign, said "that's changing next month, we're stopping giving all the money back, it'll just be the difference, it's costing too much money".

I think this was a pointed remark in my direction as he has seen me with overcharges before. Had to bite my tongue and not tell him how it wouldn't cost Tesco so much if they were better at their price integrity.

Has anyone else heard these rumours? I remember the odd post about it in the past so don't want to panic anyone needlessly.

Again on the supply name and address topic...
I've been asked to supply my details on r&r of less than £4 before. R&r'd a few pence short of £200 this morning and no details asked for.

With regard to warranties not applying to r&r goods, it was explained to me today, after r&r, that my rights were not affected should the item prove faulty.

    Two points:

    1) As spa2k says, the price on the computer is the price you would have paid anyway. However, what about when an item reduced for clearance, (like the bread or ready meals), scans at the original price because the barcode was not covered up properly? It's happeed to me twice in the last few weeks. If peope didn't notice the discount, they would have been charged at a price which WAS higher than Tesco intended to charge, unlike most misprices where the price you are charged is what you should have paid anyway. That difference is profit in the pocket of Tesco.

Well - that's not the point of it though is it? The point is that if I say to you I'll sell you an item for 1 pound and then when it gets to the till they charge 2 pounds, you'd be annoyed. It's like Litle Britain - "Computer says No".

What happens if you try again? Computer says No...I don't give a monkeys what the computer says. It's the price on the item or shelf that counts. It's upto Tesco to make it correct or face out friends from the local Trading Standards.

If they charge you 20 pounds for something they'd reduced to 10, you wouldn't have bought it for 10, so to say they aren't making profit is pure rubbish, especially as the supplier is footing the bill for that cost reduction.

    Hi

I'm new to this. My store had a small shelf with frozen squid and frozen prawns - one kind of items only each. I noticed the squid price was 3.49 on the pack but listed as 2.99 on the shelf. No other prices present. Took two. Was charged 3.49 each as per pack price.

Took the to CS and they only offered to refund the difference. They insisted I'd not been mischarged as the serial number of the bar code on the shelf and the item did not match.

I said whether I am supposed to check the bar code numbers when I am buying something and discussed the whole thing for a good 5mins but they would not budge. Pointing to the sign simply had them repeat it was not a mischarge. Eventually gave up and asked for a full refund (which was provided).

    Any advice?

Phone head office if they agree with the branch then simply ask them to demonstrate which part of "If you are charged a higher price than that on the product or shelf we will refund your money and you can keep the product" doesn't apply to your circumstance, next port of call would be Trading Standards of course.

    Absolutely right!

Just to clarify it is actually an offence in itself for a store or any retailer to make a statement that your rights are affected by such a sale and a further offence if they then go on to deprive you of your rights at a later day on that basis. the law is clear in relation to free or promotional items in that they also have to be as described, fit for the purpose for which they were sold etc etc etc YOUR RIGHTS ARE NOT AFFECTED whatever you may be told by cs staff, in the event such a statement is made it's time to throw off the gloves and come out fighting! Immediately ask to speak to a manager and go for the jugular pointing out what the cs has said and asking him or her if they support the statement and or have given instruction for it to be made, I doubt very much they would be stupid enough to do so, if they are smart they will be looking to pacify you and get you out of the store before anybody else says anything so dumb to you! They'll be taking simcards out of refunded phones to sell on next, or perhaps removing the glass plate from the microwave, "Well if your having a refund I'm taking this back":rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

as opposed to the beer situation, i completely agree with ben500 here. The product was clearly labelled incorrectly, the wrong variant of label has been merchandised and the internal checks that are part of putting out every label clearly have not been followed. You are not supposed to check that the barcode matches the product that you buy, it is there for Tesco use not the customers.

One more thing ben, you may have the grand slam but we're gonna be the first nation to hold both the rugby and football world cup at the same time.

I don't know about spoiling the party it looks to me like you haven't even got to the party yet, I think you'll find the issue the op was looking to clarify is what happens in the event you are overcharged when purchasing online, which is in fact the issue I hopefully clarified. I'm sure the information you supplied is of interest to some but unfortunately not the answer to the question as posed.
Don't worry anyway you won't spoil the party for us because we all know here........Every little helps!
