But....the point is that a buying decision is often based on the price shown on the SEL. If I see something advertised on offer I'll buy it, whereas if it's not on offer I won't. So, no purchase = no profit for Mr Ts and purchase = extra profit. Many people shop this way and don't check their receipts.spa2k wrote:(addy - i still remember broccoli!!)
Glad to hear it0 -

I totally agree. I never carry a shopping list. Most of my purchases are based on "special offers." I pick up things I would never normally buy simply because the signs says BOGOF or "Buy 2 for £2" etc etc.
These are exactly the items that seem to cause Tesco such problems. If I hadn't seen the incorrect SEL I would not have bought the product and therefore Tesco would not have made a sale and therefore they wouldn't have made a profit on the sale.0 -

spa2k, I appreciate your posts, in general they are very helpful.
Occasionally you might not be quite as right as you think though, lamb with rosemary in foil, stickered at 3.99 and charged by the computer at 4.98 .... surely the stickered price must be the correct one as it was printed by the manufacturer / packager at that price. 2 days ago I got some gammon steaks, reduced from 9.65/kg to 8.65kg and the price offer expires on 13/06... I bought on the 12/06 and the higher price was charged .... neither of those examples are incorrect SELs, they are correct prices but the computer had the wrong price inserted in the case of the lamb and the incorrect stock was on display in the case of the gammon .... but both of them result in Tesco as a company recieving more money for the product than they should have done, and in that case the OP's comment of it being extra profit does make sense.0 -

Cheers for that.
Just going back to the earlier comments by Spak2 on Tesco not making extra money from overcharging. I used to work for a supplier for Tesco's so I can assure you that you are 100% wrong I'm afraid. You wouldn't have paid that price - there is massive mark up and all the special offers costs are born by the suppliers not Tesco.0 -

I was on the receiving end of a really nasty CS and Duty Manager some months ago and I am not a wimp and can stand my ground [I worked in senior managment] but they the most obnoxious people it has ever been my misfortune to come accross frightingly they were the public face of the No1 supermarket as in Hi I'm here happy to help you. Have refused point blank to return to that store since.
But that is what they want , to stop you getting refunds and they keep their sales up . I too have come across some very ' silly people' (being polite now) but it won't stop me reminding them of their Price Promise. I think you should ignore their bullyboy tactics and go back to that store.0 -

i've just been looking at the Tesco Website and it seems you can buy the maltesers and the gateaux on there. The offers are stated but if you add them to your basket no discount is given. Where do you stand after purchasing from there?0

You've got yourself a couple of full priced products for full price as r&r does not apply to Tesco.com so best left where they are really and go get some free ones from your local store!Four guns yet only one trigger prepare for a volley.Together we can make a difference.0
