Happy New Year Everyone!
Hope you all had lovely Christmas holidays and fun New Years Celebrations.
First post of the year and I'm feeling positive...
MSE/MFW activities so far in 2013 have included turning the heating off (it's mild but I'll turn it on if we get a cold snap), restocking the freezer with Costc0 meat (£138.50 turned into 45 portions of meat or fish - with leftovers and rubber chicken that should last us a couple of months) and resisting the sales!
So how is everyone? I missed you lot!MFW: Nov 2008 £156k, Jun 2015 £129k, Jun 2017 £114k.0 -

Hi QT - sorry to hear you were poorly during the hols, hope you're feeling better now. Freezer is my height so plenty of space for yellow sticker shopping!
I'm hoping 2013 is going to be the frugal-est year ever but with some fun along the way!
£1.80 due from £co in the next day or so and £10.50 in today from a December mystery shop. Gym today and two mystery shops. I'm hoping to get my balance for mystery shopping fees/reimbursements to over £100 and maintain that through the year (just one of my resolutions/goals for the year).MFW: Nov 2008 £156k, Jun 2015 £129k, Jun 2017 £114k.0 -
Wow - I thought things were meant to be quieter and less hectic in January! Not so round here!
Just a few odments to report:
£4.99 in for a December mystery shop
Remortgage still not finalised thanks to my employer's incompetence at not returning proof of my fixed term contract. I'm worried we'll have to start the application again if this isn't resolved quickly.
Seems like I've been nominated for more than my fair share of tasks/projects while I was away from my place of work on business last week and right through the weekend.
MrMRN found the vacuum cleaner while I was away though - great progress on helping more around the house and with those supposedly 'joint' responsibilities.MFW: Nov 2008 £156k, Jun 2015 £129k, Jun 2017 £114k.0 -
In our house MrMCI is responsible for vacuuming anyway - MCI does not do it (well occassionally, but not very often - even less now my elbow is in a state!!)
Great result.

First I need to apologise to my employer HR for calling them incompetent – they did fax the info requested by the new mortgage provider in early December. Our re-mortgage didn’t complete on 24th December because Nationwide, despite receiving the info from my employer, told the solicitor and our financial advisor that they hadn’t. The upshot is that we’ve had to pay £87 extra mortgage payment this month than last month because we’re still with old provider on a now higher interest rate. Completion is re-scheduled for end of January but we’ll lose any automatic OPs and suffer extra interest in that time. So any extra money saved from being frugal has gone already on the mortgage blunder.
In good news though, mystery shopping is picking up and I have a few assignments lined up over the coming weeks. I managed to purchase the equipment needed for my New Year’s resolution ‘new skill’ using vouchers earned through VO and CP – very excited about the delivery and getting started. And my pay rise has been confirmed – an extra £302 per year before pension/tax/NI/student loan. I promise not to spend it all at once!MFW: Nov 2008 £156k, Jun 2015 £129k, Jun 2017 £114k.0 -
I failed at making meringues yesterday evening.
I have a big issue to discuss with my boss today.
My weekend is fully booked with mystery shopping because I need the money.

Oh dear, that doesn't sound good.
Hope your Friday feeling materialises soon....

Oh dear, I was in a grump on Friday wasn't I?!
Well the weekend was busy with mystery shopping (including witnessing a dramatic episode of verbal abuse to a staff member - made for an interesting report!), batch cooking and chores. But I did fit in some gym classes and 30 mins of gardening.
My mystery shopping 'money owed' balance is now over £100 and the next target is to get the fees only to over £100.
Gym membership versus PAYG - now less than £100 to make back.MFW: Nov 2008 £156k, Jun 2015 £129k, Jun 2017 £114k.0
