Well the curse of IT struck again. Router down, ISP unconnected, laptop on wireless connection to BTOpen to get emergency submission of OH's essay in.
The 2 sets of horrific tenants who managed to get arrested the other week got their final warning ASBO letters today. What a litany of disaster...drunk, cannabis, music playing, sleeping on the landing under a duvet, playing games which involved chase up and down the stairs - these are adults with children...where in the name of God do these cretins come from? And when I evict them, because they are parents they will walk straight into council houses - haven't we got our priorities all right :mad::mad::A Let us be grateful to people who make us happy: they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom. Well good news is that we sorted the internet and router problems out very late last night AND no-one was eviscerated in the process. :j
Spent most of the morning fixing the spreadsheets for Oct and they're looking awful. New total shows our arrears are now at the highest ever. X&^%^&%^ person who owes me £2116 and got the ASBO yesterday has had his claim for HB voided because he didn't fill in the forms. The lazy sod is still with me another month before I can get the courts to kick him out. On days like this I truly hate these bar stewards. Good news for all of us tho is that when I get rid of him we the community give him a nice new social housing property cos the poor dear can't really be homeless now he's acquired a son and become a single parent.:mad::mad: I was a single parent for ages as are lots of other people here - it makes my blood boil. Copied in all the relevant authorities, not that they give a toss. He's not their's yet so lets not worry is the attitude.
Started emergency reading of horrible huge text book and essay writing. It's due tomoz. Going for a bare pass and then concentrating on main course. Decided I'm not very interested in Archaeology - only git to do it for 4 months which is a bonus. Live and learn as they say.
So far it's not looking much of a happy bunny day.:A Let us be grateful to people who make us happy: they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom. Marcel Proust :A0 -
Oh bad luck kissjenn, what nightmare tenants. Is it really worth the hassle of having housing benefit claimants? Would life be simpler if you rented to working people?Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620

Hi kissjen - if I had ever thought of being a landlord as an alternative career - reading your diary would be pretty successful at putting me off!
Glad you got your internet sorted out tho...Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Sea - Ideally yes because at least I can pursue them at work. The ones we have are sometimes rotten as well. HB can be fine, I would have stood hand on a stack of bibles that this guy was ok but nope...explains my luck with men - think I need an arranged marriage.
Other issue is void periods. Given the current market we take who we can get and this is the result - swings and roundabouts. I am never ever taking one on a homelessness deposit again as I can't touch that deposit for arrears. At least if it's their money they think twice.
SH - like to do what I can for careers advice. The annoying part is that being a landlord isn't a job. I can't take a wage or allow for my time at all. Given the number of hours it takes that is very frustrating.
Rant over except to saying farming in prehistoric America has to be so mind numbingly awful as to be classed as Cruel and Unusual Punishment.
Oh and the two jobs I was up for have both gone deathly quiet after telling me to be n standby for interview.
I'm running out of :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:'s:A Let us be grateful to people who make us happy: they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom. Marcel Proust :A0 -
