    Lots of running around.

Lock broke on one of the flats so had to find replacement at B&Q. On phone to joine saying 100's to choose from so he talks me through and gets me to buy 2 because he won't know the depth until he unscrews the door. £48!! Door now fixed and neither lock needed so £48 refund from B&Q coming up :j

Braille with OH. He's managed to order the teaching text, the one and only textbook at long last. Never in the history of faffing around has so much faffing gone into getting one book. Also decided he needed a watch so of course he got 2. A £5 digital special which he can use around the house and a nicer analogue faced one which is quite smart. He has a Tag Heure which he can't use anymore so this is a slight panacea. It has a deeply manly voice (new watch that is) so expect to be driven demented by that as he'll check the time every two-minutes when he's bored.

So now the kitchen scales talk and I always feel the need to say "hello" and "goodbye" back. Bathroom scales - no way I'm talking to them. Alarm clock, PC, watch and mobile. Its like living with Waltons crossed with Stephen Hawking...but he did make flapjacks so things are looking up.

Gadget of the day was a double spoon which measures teaspoons at one end and tablespoons at the other...BUT it's bright red and magnetic so it's now stuck to the fridge rather than the see thro one that came with the breadmaker and I can never find. Result!!

New office time apportioned today - one of us has to be on dog watch given the number of items "borrowed" to decorate her room. Oven gloves were out there again this morning and a pair of pants was spotted sticking out of a neat hole she'd dug especially for the occasion.

I got morning office slot and got up to 800 words :j Don't care if they're good, bad or non-English words, a word's a word and all that. Will try and fit in some more this evening.

On couch freezing. Fleece on and Baltic here. We're trying so hard to hold out til the 1st October. Spoke to SB's tutor last night and promised him the heating would be on next time he came. Asked if we were holding out for the 1st cos he was!! Looks like the whole country is watching the pennies. He also dropped his rates £5 per hour but I couldn't accept. He's struggling now never mind slashing 20% of his rates...thats a lot more customers he needs to finds to even break even again.

So if anyone wants the name of a good maths and physics tutor near Edinburgh happy to pass on his details. He's mental but really loves the subject.

Up by 9am on a Saturday ugh...so not a morning person.

Well Tesco man has been. Eventually found a code that worked for £8 off but had to input about 30 others first. We are now overflowing in pet food, cereal and diluting juice. The hairy things, small boy definately included, will put paid to that over the coming month.

Chores are divvied up and dog watch established. I'm going to tackle laundry mountain and do some cooking so after lunch I get a study slot. Just finish my coffee first :o Procrastination thy name is Kissjenn!

Grocery challenge for October is £350...3 adults (Small Boy is 5'10" and voracious), 1 husky, 3 cats and occasional Grandad.

Spent £208 at Tesco so cupboards overflowing, freezer full and menu planning on track. £142 left until end October thats 35 days.

Also, don't know if this is good or bad but we're happy, theatre tickets booked for next 6 months. Lyceum and Traverse are brilliant and so helpful. They worked out the best deal for us so we get to see

    October

    Beggars Opera
Adolf Hitler: My Part in His Downfall
    The Dark Things
    Confessions of a Justified Sinner

November - An Arguement about Sex

    December - Peter Pan

    January - The Price

March - Beauty Queen of Leenane

    April - Everyone

    May - The Cherry Orchard

10 shows for the 3 of us and change from £150. I can't get 2 shows at the Playhouse or Kings for that. And 9 out of 10 are Audio Described so he can visit the set beforehand to touch it and feel where everything is. As one show involves formicating couples he's looking forward to that Touch Tour way too much!

So happy family as SB enjoys the trips too. I might treat him to We Will Rock You at the Playhouse for Christmas...he may be big and hairy but he loves musicals.

However essay still at 800 words so bad bad KJ.

Mr KJ will be hiding at home.

You, me and small boy could have a pleasant evening if you fancy. It's a mental show, Elton must have had access to some primo whacky baccy.

    Sounds like a plan!

I shall have to try and work on convincing Mr Fresian that having a lodger is good (Because it gives me money to go out and play!!) Current lodger leaves in a week - thank the Gods. He came home today, left the hot water on all day and a load of dishes to be done. Grrr....

Stationery fetish sounds horribly like mine. I've an entire 6 foot cupboard, drawers and bits everywhere. 2nd business has two big cupboards in the two side rooms so somewhere to put everything as I empty the house out for the renovation. Don't do shoes or handbags or cosmetics but show me a highlighter pen or A3 pad and I salivate.
I love my stationary too - and my son. Bought loads of half price stationary from MR As

I think for me I have very little interaction outside the house at the moment , certainly compared to being away from home 5 days a week, so I find it useful to have "someone" to tell what I've done. And in the best traditions of management "What gets measured, gets done!"

I'm so sad somedays I embarass even myself :o So much for internally validated :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
I have only worked 4 weeks since April so understand completely what you mean having been a 40 hour plus professional working woman before. Some work would be great!

And I had a phone call from consultancy. Company so impressed by our pitch that they feel it should be done in house. Thanks for your help, BYE  Their method is akin to needing a trained first aider so sending 6 staff to medical school should ensure we're really covered. C'est la vie, just out of pocket for 2 days work, 600 miles to meet them and most up to date manuals to kick start the work :o not  Just seems never ending this dry spell
I share your frustration. I got to the end of a 5 stage process and then they decided not to bother.... We could scream. Have to keep telling ourselves - their decision is more about them than us!

At least our families are getting more time and attention - it sounds like yours needs it, and with my DS starting high school this time and my DD only being 6 it doesn't exactly go amiss here either!

Good luck with the Grocery Challenge and continue to hope things pick up for you soon. I don't know how you juggle all the landlord stuff - esp knowing it isn't making a profit. I think you are doing amazing...! I love your posts on MrsMcr diary too!

Are you doing the GC on the Old Style board? Worth joining it for the recipes alone!

FF - Mental musical sounds like a goer hopefully. I'll wander over to the OS Board and see if they'll have me back. Must do better, been slipping last couple of months.

SH - thanks for coming back. Time at home is good. What I'd love - but cannot have is a magic calendar saying you will be out of work until x. Then I can enjoy the time now and know I can or can't sign up for things. Problem with being a control freak I think :o

Good point is that flats are making a little money this year which is tax free because of the massive losses that went before. If I get a contract then WTC and CTC may have to all go back but that's fine as I'd far far rather have a role again.

We will all get there. Stronger for this experience and empathetic with others who have gone thro it.
