Eupho's attempt at doing her own DMP (Eeeek!)

Eupho, you are doing really well. I am thinking of taking over my payplan DMP myself soon so that I have more control. i think I woukld get through the repayments quicker as I would be more inclined to challenge myself upping the payments. Right now, I get very little hassle from anyone and I think it lulls you into a false sense of security. Keep the pressure on oyur self on your terms.unsecured Debts at [strike]August 2007 £79,984[/strike] September £79,579 [STRIKE]Snowballing date July 2013[/STRIKE].

Hellooo Miss.. and thankyou for your encouragement.
Yep, in some ways I'm glad I'm doing it myself. There is sooooooo much support and information from the lovely people here.. and the CCCS counsellors you can ask questions to too, all the letter templates.. all the people that have been through it etc..
That I don't see that an agency can really do it much better than us. Obviously they (can) take a lot of the hassle out of it.. But from a lot of what I have read, plenty of people with agencies STILL (often) get calls and letters etc.
Like I said somewhere here before too.. I think also, when you get a letter or a call.. you can act on it almost imeadiately (well, after maybe running it by the great people here :T) .. That way you can get things moving faster, instead of waiting to (maybe) forward the letter you got to the agency, waiting for them to get around to your case.. and reading it.. Then getting back to you about it.. or whatever.
Not trying to get you to jump ship or anything.. haha.. But I think had I been with an agency.. I would definitely end up being one of the people that took it over myself. I much prefer the idea of having more control.
Reading and reading and reeeeeading all the excellent advice here, has given me looooooads more confidence about what can.. and cant happen.
I'm definitely not scared of it anymore.. and I have spent the last 4-5yrs a nervous wreck! haha... So thats a good thing. :T

Oh oh Ohhhhhh.. my poor little brain is fried to a crisp!
I was thinking earlier.. It' a bloody good job I don't have any relationship.. because we would be having some ding dong arguments about the fact I seem to working on my DMP practically non stop!
Thankfully.. I live by the beach.. the kids are 'teens' and never want to spent much time with me anyway.. (because I am not 'cool' enough) and in this lovely weather.. all I have had to do (other than when I'm at work) .. Is fling the washing on the line.. prep stuff for BBQing.. water my garden.. whizz around the housework.. and get back to work on my 13 creditors. :undecided
My neck is killing me today!.. (too much time gawping at a Pc screen) BUT! It's Sunday.. and I actually have had the day off work.. woohooo!.. I had a giant lay in.. which I NEVER do (i'm up with the larks.. and still up with the owls too
Anyway...
I have decided (for now) against sending Capital One the extra info they wanted (Bank statement, Wage slip, proof of any benefits) ... I WAS going to send all that tomorrow.. but, a couple of people pointed out to me that Capital One had done that with them.. and that THEY has set how much they thought they should be paid.
So.. maybe I will.. maybe I wont.. (I knowww I don't have to) but in the meantime I will carry on making a payment to them each month.. (June will only be 2nd month)..
They had offered me two options.. Short term.. interest & charges stop.. no default notice slapped on my credit file.. IF I pay it off in 6mths.. (6 equal payments.. or 5 smaller.. and one last biggy).. Which I actually COULD do.. (but I also want/need to be fair.. pro rata) .. Capital One are one of my smaller creditors about £900.. I have an insurance claim (from when DFS ripped my floor) coming.. about £720.. So I as going to put that.. and some of the money I am trying to build up.. into paying off Capital One completely.. we'll see.
Or .. option 2.. Longer payments.. (reviewed 12mthly) .. No interest and charges.. (they SAY... hmmm?) ... BUT.. a default notice plopped on my credit file.
Well.. A default notice is neither here nor there now I think.. because RBOS sent me one as my 'reply' (to my letter/offer/token payment) .. soo.. unless I pay RBOS the arrears in 17 days.. the default notice is what I WILL get. (and Im not paying the arrears.. so a DN I will get) .. hey ho..It was going to happen sooner of later.. with 13 creditors.. haha.
I'm hoping once that goes to RBOS Debt Collection.. The interest and charges will be frozen and some payment thing sorted out properly.
Anyhooo.. soo.. for now.. I'm not sending the extra info Capital One want.. Instead I have asked for a copy of my CCA.. Infact.. while I was in the mood .. I have done ALL the CCAs I think I can.. (not to my 2 bank accounts/overdrafts.. and not to Hitachi Capital (DFS Sofa) because that was only last July? ... So no doubt they have than anyway.. but I dunno.. I suppose I might just 'ask' .. maybe)
But!... enough yip yap.. my neck is killing me..
Now.. if I HAD a partner.. he could massage that for me now couldnt he?
Well... if he was still talking to me after spending 85% of this beautiful sunny day messing about on my DMP..Very proud of trying to deal with my debts. LBM 04/09

Eupho, you really must address your posture on the PC if you are going to do this till the end. Sit straight, check your back is against the chair. Use a cushion if there is a gap. Adjust the PC height and distance and if necessary use something as a wrist rest!
Anyway, well done on the CC thing. I am just waiting for citicard to pass my debt to a DCA. They said they were going to 6 weeks ago, but i have heard nothing. Then I am going to send the letter. In fact I am poised to do it with all of them as soon as they pass on the debts. I think it will make my case easier when I have saved some cash to make offers, if I have the upper hand and they can't produce them. Still going to pay them just want to be in a better bargaining position.unsecured Debts at [strike]August 2007 £79,984[/strike] September £79,579 [STRIKE]Snowballing date July 2013[/STRIKE].

Sounds like your doing really well keeping on top of everything!
I know i would certainly be getting confused over who has sent what and what they said when!
Lets just hope that by the end of it you can still sit up straight at your computer chair!Biggest Loser Weight Loss: 13 / 20 lb0 -

Helloo Miss
Thanks for that.. My chair broke.. (too much 'chair dancing to Santana'
I am sitting on a piano stool at the moment.. comfy.. but no good for my Pc table height.. haha.
Anyhooo... Does it make a difference when you ask for your CCAs then? ... Should I wait until they get passed on? .. I (kind of like you).. just thought if I started asking for them now... if crunch time ever came.. I might actually already know the results. (cant produce them.. not enforacable.. or are etc) ..

Well... stinking Hitachi Capital (DFS Sofa) wrote me a 2nd letter today.
When I sent my first letter/offer/token payment.. :lovethoug
I got a (fast!) reply back saying.. No chance.. we want it NOW.
(Grrrrrrrrr!)
Sooo... I sent them the 'Please reconsider' template letter..
I just got a reply to that.. and its exactly the same letter as the first one.. (haha) Saying Nope!.. NOW LADY!!! Or the Rottweilers and hench men are comin!
haha.. errrm.. they didnt say that really.. But.. it wasn't very friendly.. just repeating that they do not accept my offer.. and if I dont pay it NOW.. then they are defaulting me.. and passing me to a DCA..
Anyhooo..
What I am thinking of writing now is a.. 'Go on then.. Clearly you are mean and horrible unlike my other LOVELY creditors..
So lets cut the junk out and just default me' ..
Obviously I will re word that a little..Very proud of trying to deal with my debts. LBM 04/09

I was just thinking too.. I may come a little unstuck with them..
Because I cant actually find anything on my paper work that is a 'paying in' account number. So I dont know what account number to set a standing order up to.
and they are hardly likely to give me one...

Okaaay..
I've been to the Post Office this afternoon.. and posted (recorded) to my creditors asking for my CCAs.
I didnt do the 2 Overdrafts.. (because I cant) .. I didnt do Morgan Stanley.. (brought it back home) .. because the PO computer couldnt find the address I had written on the envelope. .. (I bet I wrote it on wrong!) :wall:
Also.. she couldnt find the Cahoot address.. (the one I had used to send my letters too).. This might explain why they have not cashed my cheques (tokens, for loan and bank accounts)
Anyhooo, managed to sort the Cahoot one out.. but had to bring poor ole Morgan Stanley back home..
The lady in the PO is getting faaassster! ... She managed to 'record' them all in 14minutes.. Instead of the 25mins last time..:rotfl:
