Congratulations on taking control as the diary goes on you can tell from your updates that you are gaining in confidence so I am sure you can handle anything they throw at you!
With regards to your mileage bit of info that might help you plan ahead my understanding is you will get back 20% of the extra 15p per mile (assuming you are basic rate taxpayer) so should be a nice sum for you to squirrel away and I know when I had to claim that HMRC were very quick and I had cheque through in a matter of a couple of weeks (that was a few years ago tho)
Good Luck and I will certainly be popping back to see how you are getting on.

Oo thankyou for that Medders! thats hopeful. :T

and yep.. I am gaining a lot more confidence.. mind you.. nothing 'nasty' has happened yet.. and I have a HEAP more creditors to go.
But as I have said here somewhere before.. I have no relationship to strain or risk.. no house to lose.. and no assets to lose.

So really.. the worst that can happen to me.. other than majorly tightening my belt (which I am) .. Is that I will get a heap of letters and calls flying back and forth.. Some (many probably haha!) default notices slapped on my credit file. (But I don't intend to ever get credit again! ~ well unless I paid it off that month!) I don't see me buying a house in my foreseeable future... So the 'defaults' are welcome to sit on my credit file for the next 6yrs. (Maybe) Getting taken to court.. via post.. or in person.. But I am prepared for all that now (and am running a pretty tight ship on how it is all going)
and as long as I am tramping the long walk back OUT of DebtsVille I don't really care.

I was HAPPY to get the notice of Default so soon from RBOS.. I wish all of them did that straight away too.

So far I have been quite lucky with my replies. I'm trying to keep in mind I have 10 more to go.. _pale_ and that I have to remember some of them are going to put up a fight..

BUT!.. I am not worried (any more) .. because I know 95% of the things they are going say/do are only threats.

I will take a deeeeeeeep breathe.. and make my next move.

I was saying to someone the other day.. This feels like a game of Debt Chess .. I move.. they move... I move.. and wait again for their next move.. before I consider mine.. and make one back amnd so on.
I'm trying to see it that way.

I also need to remember their words to me are not personally aimed at ME... They are only 'Standard procedure' .. Most of the letters and calls I will receive are not made up for ME.. They are only standard wording and policies, so I need to not be mortally offended.. (as I would have normally) :rotfl:

Sorry about the waffling.. hahah! I only meant to say.. Thankyou!

Soooo.... nothing 'exciting' in the post today..

No.. 'Yep.. we will help you (a little!) to get out of this mess'.
But no ' NO WAYYs' either.

I did get a 'usual' CC statement from HSBC.. but with a 'note' on it asking me to pay the balance up to date NOW.

That made me wonder if that was my 'reply' (to my DMP letter/offer) considering they are one of the few not to have cashed my token payment too.

I was going to fire off a covering letter.. and a copy of my original DMP letter to them. But.. as they seem to be the hardest of my creditors to pin an address on.. I still couldnt find the right on to reply too.

I was going to use the address on the back of the statement envelope.. But that said. 'Please do not send correspondence' ..

A lady from Capital One did telephone me.. (even though I asked for postal correspondence only) She knew about my DMP .. and asked if I could make another token payment.

I said.. that yep I did plan to .. Next month (June) ... As I had already made a token payment for May.

She hmmm'd and arrrrr'd about that for a moment.. and said I could 'have until Friday 5th to make the payment'.

Ermm.. no 'madam' ... I will pay it this month for sure.. and before your 'usual' due date..
    But
at the moment.. no payment plan is set in place with you, and it would be unfair to my other creditors for me to be paying you 'extras'.

But yes I will pay you another token payment.. Yes it will be before your 'usual' pay date.. and no, it may well not be by the 5th of this month.

and!.. I have decided now to pick up the phone every time one of my creditors calls.. for now at least.. (well, as long as I am not at work with a client, or have the kids/friends around me)

I just want to get everyone up and running.. (somehow.. good or bad) .. and faffing about sending things to one department.. and then sitting around wondering if it was the right department.. have they even read it yet? etc etc.. Is too slow for me. hahah.

Speaking to them on the phone.. might at least move things forward a little quicker. (good or bad)
