Wait, you'd rather give the clothes away to Oxfam than accept your original amount of clubcard points in the form of a clothing voucher? That's ridiculous and proves that you don't want the money at all, you're just being stubborn.

Sell the clothing on eBay. It's all brand new, even at 75% of the in-store price you'll be making a profit. Technically it would be 100% profit, since the clubcard points aren't currency at all!

£25 worth of vouchers for clothing! I don't want any clothing, who are Tesco to dictate what I must buy?

The thing is Tesco didn't dictate what you should buy. You walked into store with £25 of vouchers and asked to "double up" with clothing vouchers so in effect you chose those vouchers. Is it completely unfair to only give you back the £25 you exchanged?

It would be fair if they didn't give £25 clothing refund card only and that is the point that you missed.

I am absolutely shocked with Tesco's policy! If they give £25 back why do they limit to clothing dept only?!

They have no way of limiting the refund card to only clothing. When a refund card is issued it can be used in any store in the UK for any items.

Is this honestly true, I thought the same. If it is then three staff members including a supervisor either don't have a clue or have lied to me.

Thanks for your post if anyone can confirm this I would be very grateful.

I did take them to another store and this is what happened. I got told I must take a £25 clothing gift card.

I don't understand how this could happen. If you didn't give them your receipt and just handed them £50 of clothes how could they only give you back a £25 clothing gift card ? For all they knew you had paid with a £50 note (I can't see how they could easily check the method of the original payment) so they would have given you £50 back on a card surely?

You can only double up for selected items not anything in store

Giving a £25 refund only is not 'doubling up' - its the face value of the cc vouchers (which could have been spent on anything in the store). Any gift voucher refund should have been for the same value as the original doubled up voucer ie £50. I agree that this should have been restricted to 'clothing items only' but taking £50 worth of doubled up vouchers and only refunding £25 worth of gift card is VERY sharp practice (or even dishonest!)

Sorry I'm on a lot of medication for my illness and wasn't clear in my post. I meant that they said I could only exchange the £50 worth of clothing for £50 worth of clothing, I didn't accept this as I didnt want any clothing any more

I've completely lost the plot now ! I thought you were cross because you exchanged £25 CC vouchers for £50 Clothing Only vouchers. Having spent them on £50 worth of clothes you changed your mind (for whatever reason) and took the items back for a refund. And then were upset because they would only give you back a £25 gift card which they said could only be spent on clothes - thereby forcing you to spend the value of your original £25 CC vouchers instore on clothes only.

That would be unfair if the gift card could ionly be spent on clothes - but I wasn't aware that tesco had department specific gift cards, I thought they were all for general use. Could be wrong there, maybe they have brought out some new ones for this promotion.

if the clothes total £50, and you take them back to another store without a till receipt, then you should get a £50 refund

the only problem is you gave them the receipt - as it shows you used double cc vouchers - the T&C then it clearly states you will only be refunded the value of your original cc tokens you exchanged, so £25 - as these cant be recredited to your account they give you a refund card - these are not dept locked, they can be used for anything instore
