If they are not up on the wall and the staff do not know then how exactly are you meant to - see instore for details?

The terms are printed on the voucher you were given, if you didnt like those terms you could have took the voucher back and had the full £25 refunded back to our Clubcard account before you spend it, seems like a honest mistake , just learn from it and move on, at least you now know and have highlighted it to others

I dont know if this was a till glitch in my case but all the recipt said was that it was a £10 shopping voucher for clothing and it had a barcode, it was blank at the back. I know Tesco had problems with their tills yesterday so that's maybe why.

If this matter is not resolved then new clothing will be going to my local Oxfam shop and I will shop in Morrisons and Asda from now on.

Thank you for your input everyone.

Whilst I think it is possible that Tesco might return you to the position in which you started (ie £25 worth of all-purpose points) as a gesture of goodwill if you pursue it further and point out that the information was not as easy to find as you would have liked, I don't think you will help your case by accusing them of 'duping' you into doubling up.
In a case like this where staff may not have been fully aware of the implications of the new system, a phone-call or e-mail to their customer services might get you what you want, but if you go on the offensive and accuse them of deliberately trying to cheat you, I imagine they would be less inclined to offer anything.
    Good luck!

I was not in any way abusive to the members of staff and even thanked them for taking the time to speak to me at the end of the conversation. I only feel I have been duped because they are not currently transparent about the terms and conditions of using the double up vouchers instore. Other posters on another forum think that because the terms and conditions are online that this is ok but what if you are a great grandmother with no internet access for example - what are they supposed to do?

Any refunds using clubcard vouchers should be converted back into points, I think Tesco have really shot themselves in the foot with this stance and I think it needs to be reviewed but that's just my opinion. I will see what Tesco has to say.

Tesco are under no obligation to accept the goods for refunds (cash/credit) or even an exchange, as they are not fault nor unfit for use.

Yes, they are. Not under the SOGA, granted. But their terms clearly state they will accept returns within a certain period, and that forms part of the contract.

(Not that that has anything to do with the OP's problem, of course.)

But if I return the £50 worth of clothing using the double up vouchers then I am no longer doubling up.

If I had paid £50 in cash for a jacket and returned it with a receipt within 28 days but was told I was only getting £25 back and had to spend it in the clothing department or else, I can guarantee most customers would not be happy.

This does not make sense at all, Giving cash is different. Spending points that they issue on there items is different.

I must say though, you should get a £50 voucher back or at least the points.

Did you ask for the points to be re-credited then?

Like others said, it should not be down to tesco that you got the wrong size and you did not like the clothing, by law they only have to take faulty items back.

The only reason they give £25 back is (as someone said) people will spot the loophole and start to double there points and go shopping :rotfl:

    Good luck!

The way I see it, you should either get a £25 voucher to spend on anything in store (your original position)
    or
£50 double-up voucher to spend on only clothes (your second original position)

Have you tried taking the clothes back WITHOUT the receipt?

You'd think it would be simple enough for them to credit £25 of points to your card, instead of giving you a £25 cash refund, wouldn't you? I'm surprised they wouldn't do that.

I think they could if they wanted to, I mean if they can put 500 points on your clubcard for an insurance quote, then why can't they? I just think they don't want the hassle to be honest.

Thanks, they can take the points awarded for the clothes off that is fair. They said that the points cannot be put back on my clubcard but if they can put them on for an insurance quote then that is b.s.
