Beware FOEHN & HIRSCH is ebuyer own brand

I'm having difficulty with this idea that using an English sounding name is a more transparent way of naming an own brand than a more "foreign" sounding one.
I think "That sounds a bit foreign, it can't be an own brand" is an unreasonable assumption to make. For all I know FOEHN & HIRSCH could be the founders of ebuyer. It's not implausible.0 -
Samsung is or was a UK company. They chose the name to make it look as if they were Japanese.0

Its not really that difficult to guess that ebuyer made that name up. nice link to the intellectual property website though.
The Foehn & Hirsch website is crap, NO videos even though there is a link, you get the coming soon... text which basically means we can't be bothered, the more specs link gives you the same specs that you already see on the product page, both these things are very annoying, especially when you are interested in the product and are looking for info only to be let down. Its the same as click here to enlarge image and you get the same image
The products themselves seem to get good feedback in the reviews on the ebuyer site, just wish ebuyer would get their finger out and finish the website; very unprofessional ebuyer, to me it reflects the attitude of the brand and consequently ebuyer.0 -
so has anyone actuially bought one of these and can tell me what its like? my son wants a 22" TV for christmas (from my parents) and we looked at the ones they do intesco with the dvd & ipod dock but they have terrible reviews so hubby suggested this one, it looks really nice & the reviews I have read seem good, this is just for a 12 year olds bedroom, and used probably more for gaming than watching TV, but he does watch the occasional DVD. We cant afford to spend a fortiune...any feedback appreciated...ThanksLight Bulb Moment feb 2009

I bought the Foehn & Hirsch 19" HD Ready LCD TV/DVD Combo from Ebuyer in June, it was dead on arrival, it was returned and repaired then sent back to the wrong address, it was returned back to ebuyer then back to me (going to the wrong address again first) to find that it was dead on arrival, it was then returned once more before going back to the wrong address again and then Ebuyer attempted to deliver it back to me despite agreeing to a refund. I am now seeking legal advice and warn others against buying this model of TV. It is very cheap for a reason, mine had scratches and white marks on the shiny front after Ebuyer's technicians had supposedly repaired it!!!
I think you can tell I would not recommmend Foehn & Hirsch products.0 -
i have jst bought a 19" TV/DVD LCD combo from ebuyer.......
however i am trying to watch DVDs but whenever i put a disc in the screen comes up as "NO DISC", all DVDs that i have tried are genuines and not copies.....
wondering if anyone could help plz......
For some strange reason, all these tvs with built-in dvd players have them

Nothing whatsoever - if it's legal, decent, honest andf truthful!
Having dealt with ebuyer a few times previously, I would have no qualms whatsoever with buying their own brand merchandise, but why not call it "Ebuyer" - why dress it up with a Swedish or German sounding name if it isn't intended to mislead the public? Asda's own brand "George" or Marks and Spencer "St Michael" or British Homes Stores "Prova" and Tesco's "Delamare" (that's going back a bit!) were never intended to hoodwink anyone - in fact, those honourable companies were proud of their own brands!
Unfortunately for ebuyer, I have high moral and ethical standards so I won't be dealing with them any more, as I don't knowingly deal with others like Dixons/Currys/PC World who deliberately mislead or misinform:
The Foehn and Hirsh, Matsui and Packard-Bell brands may be fine products - but the names are intended to mislead, making the businesses behind them dishonest traders.
If you're happy to be treated as a "mug" then that's your affair.
Tescos electrical goods are branded Technika are they not? sounds nothing like a british company or related to The Tesco name.
Who really cares what they brand their goods at - better then it saying 'cheap tat' isnt it?one of the famous 50 -
Brand names, it doesn't matter what brand anything is as long as it does the job that it purchased to do.
Take for example Skoda Octavia and VW Passat then take the badges off how do you know what car is what?
If you didn't like the name in the 1st place why did you buy the item if you have high expectations of products you should have purchased a more expensive item instead then you wouldn't be on here moaning about it.:beer:0
