i applied a few months ago for offset mort and b/a and got declined due to my defaults (the ones i knew nothing about!!) ive rung them today as British Gas have now removed both defaults (thanks once again NID!;)) and my credit score is back up to excellent.
I've explained this to them and have asked to reapply and are going to get back to me but from your above post i'm not too optimistic....can i not appeal if they say no as it wasn't my fault?

Hiya - so your defaults have already been removed then? Great news - glad to be able to help you...... excellent news!

Same with me, my baddies are linked address nowt to do with me, they know this, I sent proof and told them to read on screen notes (from hsbc that proves their internal fraud passed me fit) but they still said no.

Like I say all the time, a credit score decline cannot be appealed - well it can but waste of time as will never get overruled. A credit file (adverse data) can however be appealed and should be reassessed using only the current data so you may be ok....

    Good luck :T

Best of luck - let us know how you get on and just cos you get paperwork doesn;t mean much unfortunately..... I was gutted!

I managed to get an account with them! I guess I passed all the criteria and it all happened pretty quickly, my account was opened on the 01/06/09.

  • I applied for a FD current account back in 2003, my credit rating was poor, I had a 1 year old default at that time and loads of late payment markers for various other cc’s. I remember going over the application over the phone with the woman, she then put me on hold for 5 minutes whilst they did the credit check and told me that I had been approved for a current account with £900 o/d and cc with £800 limit. The paperwork arrived a week later and I too got the text message. I also got the phone call at work, I know because my secretary passed the call through to me and they explained that it was FD and they were just verifying my employment details. I had been in my job for less than a year and had been living at the current address for 1 year. I remember all this because I was so shocked I actually managed to get the account I kept on asking the woman if she was sure and wasn’t lying lol. :rotfl:I have never had a HSBC account/cc and had no other ‘history’ with HSBC. I guess I must have been damn lucky :D

Are you going to apply again n-i-d when the 6 months are up?

    Hiya

Thats really good that you got an account (with the extra's), well done. Maybe your verbal explanation confirmed everything, and this was one of the reasons I wanted to join 1st cos their staff can override manual decisions, but then I realised that HSBC done the same PLUS some :D

I'll stick with HSBC - they are a great bank and give me pretty much what I ask for (which isn't much) and I doubt 1st would offer the same.....

Just applied for a FD account yesterday. Current Account search on Experian, waiting for the forms now I assume. I think the only thing holding me back is lack of credit history (I've only been in the country 12 months, though in the last 3mnths, 2 overdrafts and a CC).

Got the paper form on Friday and sent it back on Sat (you literally tick a few boxes, confirm what you put in online and sign)

Will post again when I hear something. Hopefully this week..

(6 weeks and counting on my Santander Zero application lol, though no rush on that as a few searches etc will drop off by the time they get around to it :) )
