  • Has anyone else had the same problem, sending the paperwork back and then getting a decline???
  • Hiya

See my posts - I sent the forms back at which point they check your credit file, i.e. they may search you 'provisionally' the date you apply and if all looks good they will authorise the account, however when you send the forms back they do additional checks using the search from the credit file when you applied online....... not guaranteed at this stage, give them 3 days then ring and see if you've been accepted - if so they will confirm all to you there and then!

They check your credit file - thoroughly - that much I know!

I bank with HSBC which is what I think helped me originally, but my cifas let me down (it is incorrect, i.e. not mine) but the bank refuse to remove it and I cannot be arsed taking them to court! Had enough court for one year! ;)

hmm, sounds ominous. i haven't had as many problems as you, no CIFAS but had problems with missed payments in the past. None for over 2 years though and recently settled 3 accounts and closed a credit card account.

Looking at my credit report, it was a full search they performed on 10th December and the lady i spoke to yesterday said that another wouldnt be done. I wonder if they have just gathered data and not actually looked at it yet

will update when i know more...

  • actually I will update right now as I have just checked again: these are the searches and another has been added, dated yesterday.

December 10th - First Direct: Current Account Search
December 22nd - HSBC Online: Identification Generic Check

As I understand it, HSBC owns FD so the second one kinda makes sense and n-i-d this is where you would have come unstuck with the cifas issues I suppose. According to Experian, a 'Current Account' search is a full search which is visible to other lenders, the ID search is not a full search and is not visible to other lenders.

Just wait and see now I suppose, although I may get itchy feet and give them a call.

Just a quicky, which i'm sure somebody has already posted on here somewhere.

Do i have to switch DD's and SO's and does my salary have to be paid in, or can i just transfer £1500 each month and take it back out again?
    Mortgage
    May 2014 - £255,000.00
    Jan 2015 - £251.589.00
    O/P To Date £194.04
  • to avoid the charge all you would need is to transfer in £1500, although if you want the £100 bonus i think you have to transfer your salary for 3 months.

Direct debit and standing order switching is optional, however if you want the second £100 for switching away then you will need to do it and pay your salary of over £1500 a month for at least 6 months
