He asked do I want my direct debits/standing orders switched, and whether I wanted the £500 overdraft. I told him I put no overdraft on the application. He said he'll change it so it's £0 overdraft (I don't want an overdraft). I didn't request a CC either.

I'm still not convinced. With 58 searches, and a decline from Barclays and Halifax, I cant see how First Direct would accept me.

I can log back in now, but no 1st account. :(

How did you rack up 58 searches lol?

They have never charged me, as far as I am aware.

LOL, you're not multi logging in are you waiting for the new account to appear?

It will show (if at all) after the 1500 update won't it? you'd have thought....? :p

Did you have a cut-off time before which you'll ring back? And I don't mean like 10 minutes after he put the phone down lol...... also, did you ask if it was likely to be declined or what? ie. has he said it will definitely be open by the end of the day or did he say it might be subject to additional checks?

I'll wait until tomorrow and send them a secure message online. The guy said it'll be opened today. I did say to him my credit rating isn't great which is why I didn't ask for an overdraft. He just said that I can always apply later on if I decide I want one.

Ahh right so does that mean that if you apply without the overdraft then you may have a better chance of being accepted? Did you actually apply over the phone, what i'm wondering is if I apply over the phone can they open it there and then or is there still the need for the paperwork?

Indeed I am but to be honest I may send a SAR to HSBC first and see exactly what they have about me and why they are playing silly-beggars and also SAR CIFAS just to ensure my entries have dropped off.

I just want a FD account lol :p:p
