Twaddle people keep quoting this 6 years and it alot more complicated, you have to proove the fault was there when you bought the item so how do you do the 5 years down the line ? , the seller also only has responsablity for return costs for a certain period of time 28 days is the norm but alot go beyond that and cover under the whole warranty.

You will find that thats is incorrect too. So long as you can prove that the fault wasnt due to general wear and tear(by getting the product offically tested), you have a good case even if say the laptop breaks down after a year and the warranty has finished. The law says goods should be fit for the purpose intended and should last a reasonable period of time depending on the product( a laptop should last a few years at the least). The only problem is the hassle of going though the paperwork etc to get a refund as the companys try to fob off that the fault occured to wear or tear or users neglect.

generally 2 weeks is the cooling off period - can cancel orders whilst the 28days(i think it can be more) allows you to ask for a refund if a product is faulty and you dont want a replacement.

The DSR give you 7 days from the day after the product was delivered to change your mind. After that you have no rights within the law to return a non-faulty product, just the discretion of the seller.

I signed up for a small business account (genuine'ish) and got a £60. reduction on carriage, total £350.88. I am still wavering about ordering though. Not because of the value but not sure of the reaction of 'she who must be obeyed'.

Me too, Im having a dilema. Im so tempted, as I have wireless now on the PC, and it would be perfect for use downstairs in the lounge so I dont have to hiberntae upstairs every so often?.

I have hinted about buying it but the other half warned me about it!?, but said I could get one on my birthday... in JULY :(

Shall i buy it and hide it with my parents till July. I know when July comes i wont be able to find a great deal like this again?. What do you reckon.

the following code is still working in business section: 1-N03135
  • Someone mentioned that it doesnt have a PCMCIA slot, and as I have a GPRS Datacard that I often use on the road, anyone knows whether there is some sort of adapter/converter to make the card work somehow?

@ sandybrag : I reckon these laptops will go down in price to around £250 by July :)

I am beginning to think this will be one of Dells C*** ups. I thought this was too good to be true. I wonder if anyone ends up with one.
