I'm not technical and not too sure if I have got a good machine or not. I will need a wireless adaptor to hook up to my Netgear router.

It should have a wireless card in it, 802.11 b/g mini pci card will probably be listed on your order confirmation pdf, this is the wireless adapter, you don't need to buy a plug in one. This will connect to your wireless router.

    Its a great machine.

    Hi All,
Mine arrived yesterday ( also went to dewsbury) and very pleased with it . Got widescreen 256mb model with intention of adding more ram but might not bother as works really well as it is .

Made windows recovery disc and reinstalled windows without all the dell rubbish , avg free AV, and nero for burning. Seems to work much better with 5 programs installed instead of 25 , but please dont try this yourself then blame me- Im no expert.

Also no expert on wireless modem routers but bought one from CCL Bradford , think it was about £45 and managed to get it working and even sharing a printer . Dell machine picked it up straigtaway but that was an unsecure netwok, securing it was the tricky bit ( about 2 hours) . Thanks to help on this site managed ok.

Just one question, If I do buy more RAM what do I ask for ? Are they different types of ddr ram and can I keep the 256 and just add another 512 , and in any order?

    Thanks to all .

turn off dell, unscrew the 3 screws on the back, pop in ram and hey presto 256 + 512 = 760 mb ram (dont know where the 8 goes) but much quicker, these days you def need 512 min or pref more
If you dont ask for discount you don't get discount

Got to agree you will be ok so long as you dont play the demanding games at full detail.

Really, forget 3D games on this. They won't so much run as walk.
  • Thanks again OP, ordered the cheapskate version at £288.47. :money:
