If everyone else who was first got a voucher and I didnt, my contacting them with a genuine query as to why and expecting some kind of answer is hardly hounding them

You don't know, only what you've learnt online. The Penny Bazaar was the advertised promotion, not the odd surprise voucher. Your posts portray some sort of expectation to be treated by M&S over and above other customers and the original concept; I hope that's not what you're intending.

ms crow I know from speaking to managers at several stores on the phone, several customer service reps, staff at stores AND from their Head Office. Please dont presume I take my only info form a messagebaord and take messageboard posts as gospel

I do not expect to be treated over and above any other customers just as fair as other customers who were first in the queue and got the vouchers given to them by Head Office to give out to first in the queue, Equal treatment for all is only fair to ask. If it had been someone in front of me NOT given their voucher I would have said and done the same and stood up for fair treatment of them. My branch's running of the Bazaar deteroirated into a shambles as confirmed by their staff the last day purely down to the absence of the Manager .

Also it is the principle. When a company - and I KNOW M&S do - make a HUGE song and dance about treating all customers fairly and equally and when - including in this instance - they do not - I think it is legitimate to pull them up on this.

As a lifelong customer and ex employee of M&S who pride themself on good customer service and relations, I think it is only fair I get an answer.

rob the whole point of standing there for all those hours was to benefit from this bazaar as I was getting things for my disabled mother then I really did not get any benefit out of this experience. As for my priorities in life, I hardly think you can make such sweeping statements about me from a coupla posts on a message boord but feel free to generalise and presume. I do so love when people do that. Shows they don't have one iota of a grip on reality.

Of course you benefited from the 1p Bazaar, you queued up three days, fair enough you are entitled to but you have stated it was only one day that you queued for your disabled mother, whom you don't have any contact with , so that left 10 items that you could have benefited from quite apart from the benefit of spending time with friendly people in the queue on the three mornings as mentioned by you.

I have a perfect grip on reality, do you?

Yes thanks I do. Chattie btw I dont recall referring to you unless of course you have more than one handle here.. I did not benefit from the Bazaar. The items I queued for were for my mother, the other person I mentioned and also for other friends. I think the only thing I got out of the Bazaar personally was the enjoyment, the pleasure of helping others oh and a cheap fresh croissant one day.:rotfl:

Interested also to know that other people define one phone call to my local branch as hounding. I would have thought hounding was like calling them every day rather than sitting here for the best part of a week now waiting for them to return my call....:rotfl:

Blimey you have probably spent more money in phone calls and time than the value of the voucher!

Not in my store. As I said I was the first person there today. Not only was the Manager himself not present, this didnt take place. I have not yet reported this officially until I have word back from my local store. I am awaiting their call.

I am not just some total chancer out for a bargain but am a regular shopper at this store going there most days. I buy all my clothes there - aside from one or 2 charity shop bargains - food, cards. gifts and have done so with M&S for 30 years plus. It is not a case of yearning for more but I do think it is fair of my to query why if I was undeniable first in the queue that I was not issued the same priviledges as first person in the queue at many other stores.(if not all)

I am seriously considering no longer shopping there as are my friends, family and flatmate but will await the outcome of this query.

Samba yes I am grateful extremely and will continue to be so. I managed to give more than I should probably be able to afford to a well deserving local charity and helped out my disabled mother who was unable to get to a store herself and got some things for a friend who has been in and out of hospital to cheer them up and some very lovely things they were too.The atmosphere was lovely, the queuing was fun and I met some lovely people. The staff at my local store are nice and friendly and professional and I will not have anyone think otherwise about them. They are very hardworking and always go above and beyond. On the whole I found this an extremely enjoyable experience and whatever happens with my query I am always going to have this experience and the memories.

This is where you referred to me but I really would refer you to the last sentence of your own post and suggest you chalk it up to experience rather than phoning round the country on the strength of other people's posts. I do hope your blind, disabled mother enjoys her goodies that you very kindly queued to get her.

This 1p Bazaar from m & s, in all honesty i hope they dont do it again.
All i have heard on here is complaints, moaning, and sarcasm. I understand it was all for charity, but maybe thet would have done better standing in the street asking for money handing out stickers, Rather than giving out items for a penny.

I just dont understand whats to moan about?
    sorry - rant over

Well I'm not going to moan! I went twice and altogether got two brooches (going to give one to my mother-in-law), two necklaces (have one to my mum), two mugs and two tea towels (gave one of each to my dad), a frisbee (for my other half and my mum's dog, although he was rubbish at playing with it!) and a chocolate gold coin (also for my other half). Gave a donation to the local hospice too. Had fun in the queue talking to the women behind me! All very well organised too. No pushing and shoving or anything.

Felt sorry for one little old lady who'd been queuing for ages on the last day and only wanted to do her food shopping! She should've gone in the other door but didn't realise until one of the M&S staff told her when she got to the front of the queue - bless her!
