they called the police over a penny
in our store they put the items in a bag as you told them what you want for you and you donated your money on the way in extremly well organised so im not sure why your store was so badly run
im sure some of these posts are made up !!
I havnt made this up!!!! Yes it may have been "over a penny" but never the less stealing is still stealing, AND all the money raised was for charity.
And i would like to add, a small corner of the store was where all the peny items were. You were handed a basket and then asked to choose 5 items. about 10 people were aloud in at a time, then you walked to the women and handed her your basket, she put it in a bag and you gave her the money.0 -
i dont agree with stealing but i must say your store must have been very poorly organised ..

Went to the penny bazzar today, got there at about 8.40am and there was virtually no queue. I was handed a scratch card, a bag and my leaflet of items I could choose. I got a necklace, mug, tea towel, socks and a choco coin
was pleased with my items and gave a generous donation too.

I wish I had a bracelet to give you as on the first day I turned it down and picked up a frisbee (I did not know what to get as the 5th item). You never knwo - someone else with one spare may offer it you.
I agree - the guy should be nicked for that as no one has an excuse of not paying 1p. I guess someone was desperate to get a load of jewelry - probably to ebay. Not saying he should be charged as I am not sure if that is deserved, but he definitely should be marched through the store inbetween a couple of officers. Why would you steal off charities???? Its just simply wrong!............... Have you ever wondered what

I don't understand why so many people are complaining about the products being 'tat' or it being unfair not everyone at every store is getting anything.
The money is for charity. Marks and Spencer are not going to give people things worth a lot of money for free.
It's fairly obvious that M&S will do well out of this as they're getting lots of free advertising and people going into their shops who maybe wouldn't normally. However, I don't think this can be criticised...at the end of the day M&S is a business, and their aim is to make money.
I think people need to remember that this is meant to be something nice and fun, if you don't like it...don't go to M&S, let people who really want the things have them.
Don't mean to sound like I'm moaning!0 -
Maybe we should have worn badges.
Deffo! I always think that when I go into Boots as well, maybe badges should be made as I haven't bumped into anyone from MSE yet that know of!
Greetings to Stryder from another unemployed person. It's infuriating as hell right now with the recession. Have been thinking of starting an OU degree as my English degree hasn't helped me (And it's a wonderful use of clubcard vouchers) so I wish you the best of luck.

Good luck with your studies. I finished my degree at the OU last October and have my graduation soon - I do not even own a suit ( I don't need one for work, and the other occasions when a suit would be handy are so few and far between... ), so the tie, cufflinks, and a voucher like the one Reverbe missed out on would have come in very handy.
Oh well, I suppose we are going to see some smart looking homeless people over the next few days with their ties, cufflinks and new jewellery on, drinking their special brew out of anniversay mugs, with their dogs sporting new collars in the form of tea-towels... :rotfl:
What voucher was that then? If it's the 12.5% off clothing one I have one going spare. The "Bloodlust" Clique - Morally equal to all. Most of this course is paid with Tesco Vouchers, and half of next years also.
However - it feels a little Faustian............... Have you ever wondered what

Deffo! I did an english degree back when it was meant to be easy to get work with. It wasnt then and it has never done me any good. If I had my time over I'd do a business course tho loved English Lit so that is what was mostly behind my choice. With a good Arts degree not too specific one was meant to be able to do anything.
Best of luck to you also. What Would Bill Buchanan Do?0 -
A little known fact about M&S is that they actually employ some homeless in an initiative to give those without an address a chance to get work experience and a start. Dont know if this is still running but it is something among the many things they have done over the years for charities and charitable works.
:T Exactly and all the time i worked there my store had a lady from local homeless hostel who came and collected any food that was being removed from shelf as display date was reached as well as any food that was not put out due to missing labels, bashed packaging etc. She would take at least 2 crate fulls a night.
 I feel incredibley sad to read that people, knowing money is for a local charity are giving bare minimum donation and taking change from 10p . So sad.0
