    Here Here

In the end, it does not matter, It was fun and a lot of people who went in enjoyed it.

A lot of it does depend on how you see the world. Marketing? customer appreciation or cynical subliminal advertising, etc etc. People should agree to disagree. In the end it did no harm to anyone and most people on freebie sites would sign up there grandmothers to crematorium advertising brochures for those freebies :)

What's really sad is that my local store, which is in a city of around 120,000 people, took quite a bit less than £1000 total in donations over all three days.

Well, it is a store, where customers go to hand over money for (not cheap) goods. It is not where they go to donate to charity. The 1p publicity gave customers the impression that it was a sale jamboree, not an invitation to a chuck money in buckets.

i dont wear cufflinks so i dont know y u have this major obsession with them.

If you have a job that requires you to wear a suit, shirt and tie everyday, cufflinks can come in very useful - they finish off an outfit and make you look smart and give a good impression, which is especially important if you're trying to make a good impression. A good appearance is very important for some jobs you know! If you have to wear them every day, then it's nice to have a bit of choice.

Agreed! I'm in a blue shirt today, with a bright blue tie and bright blue cufflinks! :D

Further to previous posts re not recieving my voucher for being first in the queue following the 2 calls I got from a girl at our local store on Friday assuring me they had not forgotten me. I have heard nothing from them 4 open days later. I think that they are hoping that I will forget my issue with them. So sadly think I will have to revert to a letter in writing to customer services and the mooted boycott of M&S by myself, friends and family. Sad though when most of our lives have been shoppers there. 30 years plus in my lifetime alone and others I know are older and with more years retail shopping at Marks..

Isn't this a little over the top? No one was guaranteed getting a voucher, it certainly wasn't a given right just for being first in a queue. Hounding a store for something that was an occasional gesture is a bit much. I personally would have been thrilled to be able to get to the penny bazaar.

ms crow it is hardly hounding. If everyone else who was first got a voucher and I didnt, my contacting them with a genuine query as to why and expecting some kind of answer is hardly hounding them . As a lifelong customer and ex employee of M&S who pride themself on good customer service and relations, I think it is only fair I get an answer.

rob the whole point of standing there for all those hours was to benefit from this bazaar as I was getting things for my disabled mother then I really did not get any benefit out of this experience. As for my priorities in life, I hardly think you can make such sweeping statements about me from a coupla posts on a message boord but feel free to generalise and presume. I do so love when people do that. Shows they don't have one iota of a grip on reality.
