  • Hi people.

dont know if this is the right place for this (let me know if its not)

I have just been in my local town to look for a new phone, i have pay as you go at the moment with Orange, but i have started spending more on top ups as i work away, sorry, i am going on with myself.

anyway, the only place that was helpfull was "3", all the others just wanted someone to say "i want that" and pay the money.

the deal was:- IPhone 4, 32gb @£159 and £35 per month.
    for 500min, 5000text, 500mb internet.

phoned Orange and got :- IPhone 4 @£139 and £35 per month.
for 600min, unlim text, 500mb internet, plus usual magic no's etc.

not sighned up yet, anyone think its a good, or even an ok deal.

    :D
  • Hi muttleydog,

I would question Orange about that one! Their website lists the iPhone4 at £119 on the package you have just described.

On the topic of MoneySaving though, it may be worth opting for a free 'Android' handset on the same tariff. I have just upgraded to an HTC Desire HD and found it to be a fantastic phone! A lot of tech reveiw websites have rated it as a very worthy rival to the iPhone. (It has won phone of the year at the 'pocket-lint.com' gadget awards).

Plus most phone companies love getting new customers as much as they love hanging on to old ones so you should have a little hagling leverage with the monthly price of the contract too.

    Hope this has helped!

    Happy MoneySaving!

I was on £15/month on 3 network and getting unlimited 3 to 3 calls, unlimited texts but only 75 any network minutes so I wanted to change this and managed to get a new phone, 900 minutes or texts to any network, 300 minutes to 3 for £14/month.

Hi, currently haggling with three, currently e71 £20pm 200mins + unlimited text & net, they still haven't offered anything worth taking, and have today requested my puc. Will they call back to negotiate?
I would go into a shop if I was you. They are more likely to offer you a deal if you show up looking all nice, smiley and friendly than if they only hear your voice and don't have to look you in the eye.
For example, see my deal above.

I've got a small problem with my contract haggling. I'm currently with Tesco Mobile on £20 a month with an iPhone 3GS and I get £60 flex credit (it basically gives me £60 of "credit" every month).

I'm nearing the end of my contract and I've looked at Tesco's SIM-only deal and I can get 250 mins., unlimited texts and unlimited internet for £15 a month, rolling contract.

The problem is, I can't find any better deals with which to haggle with. The only argument I have for switching to O2 is that they have the whole O2 to O2 calls thing on bolt on.

Do I have any haggling power?

I think £15 a month rolling contract is hard to beat. Let's not get greedy.

You got a good offer, but I think you can press them a little more:

I was in the same position as you. Last night I called tesco and asked for my PAC code, I was quickly passed through to retentions. I have a 3GS for the last year on £20 a month with triple credit. No different offer on new iPhones compared to online store.

Got the following for £10 a month on a 30 day rolling contract.
    - 500 min any time any network
    - 3000 texts
    - 1gb of data

It was a no brainer for me although I'd love a great deal on iPhone 4.
  • I am currently paying £10/month for 300minutes, unltd texts + data towards the end of my 12month contract with O2.
What do you think i should try haggle for? As i dont use all my minutes but need my texts and data, do you think they will be able to offer it at £5/month rolling?
  • just got for £15 per month

    600 mins
    500 txts
    data
free land line calls and blackberry bolt on

I originally ordered it before Christmas then cancelled it.
Having done a software upgrade on my Blackberry Bold 9000 which has REALLY improved the performance as well as the loudness of the ring tone I called them today and they will have to issue a new number but have honoured the "deal"
I know its a 12 month contract but I think its the cheapest I have seen post Christmas. O2 wouldn't offer me anything!

I was on an O2 sim only unlimited 1 month rolling iPhone contract with 600 mins, unlimited texts and 500mb Internet for £25 a month (now risen to about £26 due to vat increase this month!)

I've only been using about 100 mins a month so decided to do something about it, and noticed the "3" network were advertising 300 mins, 3000 texts and 1gb Internet for £10 a month if I signed to a 12 month only deal with them. After being a bit cheeky in the shop I also got a £15 credit thrown in as well!! Overall i'm paying just £8.75p a month for double the data! I've found them top notch so far, and the customer service seems good. (my Mates warned me their customer service centre was rubbish, they couldn't have been better up to now). :-D
