Also, last year when I told them about a (genuine) better deal elsewhere, they actually advised me to take it from them. Is there a way around this to get it any cheaper?0 -
My contract (225 minutes and 100 texts per month for £25) expired a few days ago, so I rang their Retentions department to see what they could do.
I spoke to a delightful and most helpful lady, and came away with a deal for a Nokia 6220 with a 2GB memory card and a case, with 300 cross-network minutes, unlimited calls to landlines and 350 texts for £10 per month.
Yippee!0 -
My contract with O2 is nearly ended (£20 for 125mins and 50 text). As my phone needs have much reduced I plan to switch to Pay-as-you-go even though I could switch to £10 with hundreds of mins and texts. The main reason is that I have been paying £7.50 for insurance to protect against having the phone nicked and somebody running up a huge bill. With PAYG this can't happen. Anybody got a view on whether insurance has any value?0

I'm 13 months into an 18 month contract with Orange (£35 per month for 400 mins and 200 texts).
I would like to upgrade to get internet and a nice "smartphone"....the SE Experia looks excellent. My question is..........
Should I change my contract to the cheapest option, say £15, and then buy it out, start from scratch or do you think I would get any joy haggling with them just now? Thanks for all advice.0 -
I've been with Vodafone for 3 years, with 125 mins and 200 texts for £20. Last week they offered me the same contract but with an upgrade to the N95 8GB phone and unlimited internet for 10 months (£5/month thereafter), which I accepted.
Today I called them and threatand to leave. They put me through to their retentions department, who I told about a Tesco mobile offer of £15/month for £60 worth of "flexible credit". Vodafone then offered me unlimited internet for my full 18 month contract, and lowered the price to £15/month, which I work out to be worth £170 savings over the year and a half. Not bad considering Tesco wern't even offering a phone with their deal. Yay is me!0 -

I think you can only go down one tariff level for the remainder of your contract, although maybe someone can confirm with Orange.
I don't think you'd get much joy with haggling now, they know you can't leave yet, so you're in a stronger position in the 17th month.0 -

Thanks for the post, can I ask what deal you used for bargaining on the 600 mins 1000 texts option ?0 -
Im currently on an O2 simplicty contract, which is a rolling contract, £20 600mins, 1000txts, but i want a new phone.
Has anyone had success in getting a new phone from O2 without compromising the already good contract? To get the same amount of calls and texts on a new contract would take it up to £35! Although i could easily cope with reducing the mins down to around 100/200, but that doesn't seem to be an option on the website without having to pay for the phone.0
