  • My wife and I both had contracts on Orange. They were just about to run out. I called, and tried haggling for a better phone and deal, cause their upgrades were extortionate, but they weren't interested. I asked to take my wife's number with us and was given a PAC code. All over? Not quite.
Received a letter this morning to call them, and was offered A Sony Ericsson W980 free (they wanted £200 before)
    300 minutes (225 before)
    Unlimited texts (100 before)
    £20/month (£25 before)
For some reason they could offer that deal on my wife's number, but not on my own, but at least there was a victory.
  • My contract with Orange was up, so I called them explaining I wanted to leave and needed my PAC code. I told them I was going to Virgin to go Pay as you Go with their Freedom 300 package (300 cross net mins, 300 texts, no contract). They said they could match that, but I would need an 18 month contract, so I declined and said good bye.

They called me back offering me the same deal on a 12 month contract. Again I declined and said bye.

They called me back and offered me 500 mins, unlimited texts and a 12 month contract for £20. I declined at which point they halved the cost - £10 for 500 mins etc...

They did however say that I couldn't choose from many of their phones, so I chose the most expensive - Sony Ericcson W890i. It duly arrived the next day.

At which point, I called them and said I didn't want the contract any more as the phone was not as good as my current model. They offered me any phone I wanted.

    So to summarise. I got:

    500 cross net mins
    Unlimited texts
    12 month contract
    Any phone I wanted

    £10!

    Thanks Martin!

Gave o2 a call on my AFTER the end of my contract and told them i want the Nokia n95 8GB with a discount from normal prices.

They offered me a 2 options-

    Offer 1 - Brand new Nokia n95 8GB BLACK- £45 tariff - £10 Discount = £35 each month.

Offer 2 - CLEARANCE Nokia n95 8GB Black, on the £35 Tariff with a discount of £10 = So monthly cost came to £25 per month.

    I decided to choose the Clearance(Offer 2)

The salesperson kept on saying it was such a good handset they really can't go any cheaper. So i accepted it. My phone came the next morning. And even with all the promises the clearance phone was clearly faulty.

I called back straight away, and was told that there was no more CLEARANCE NOKIA N95 8GBS left and told me to wait a few more days. I told him that was just rediculous and said that i want a NEW nokia n95 or im going to have cancel the contract.

He then told me that he will send me out a BRAND NEW Nokia n95 8gb on the same tariff (£35 tariff for £25).

So at the end i received what i really wanted-

    Brand new Nokia n95 8GB
    £35 tariff - £10 Discount.

But i;ve just realised the post where someone received the £35 tariff for £20. I guess im gonna give them a call first thing tomorrow and complain.

Some quick advise. Check this thread before you upgrade, Someone here might have got a better offer then you.

And sometimes they might say that its coming to end of your current contract and if you don;t upgrade then you get a chance afterwards. Thats just all crap.

In July I got a new contract with O2 following an 18-month contract in which my bill varied from £35 (the fixed rate for 600 mins, 1000 text any network) to £185 (I shouldn't take my phone on holiday with me!!!)

O2 rang me a month and a day before my contract expired and said what a wonderful £35 deal they had which was exactly the same as the previous contract. To cut a long story short, said there were better deals on other networks and they immediately cut £15 off my monthly bill and I now have unlimited texts. So that's a new handset, 600mins, unlimited texts, any network for £20 a month! A bargain.

My friend who had just renegotiated their contract with O2 and moved onto the new £35 contract rang up and complained. He was immediately put onto the £20 deal too. Swiftly followed by his nephew!

    Hi,

Can you just tell us which phone you recieved with this offer.

    Thanks
  • Hey!!

Ive literally just got off the phone with Orange, and got my £35 per month dolphin contract down to £20 per month for unlimited texts and 600 free minutes!! I simply rang up and said O2 and Vodaphone can do this for me so if you cant im leaving! Then I got the new Samsung soul phone with a free memory card!!

I was really nervous about doing this having never done it before, so to anyone a bit unsure just got for it! I found that i got alot further being friendly and jokey rather than a bully though!

Thanks to the people that helped me out :j
  • Hi,

I am currently a o2 payg customer, and have been for about 2 years, and i am thinking of getting a iphone 3g on payg, but the contract is a bit expensive, will martins trick work for me?

    Thanks

  • I had to post, having just got off the phone with O2. I have been with them for 12 months, paying £35 per month for the last year.

I went with a cashback deal which I then messed up; missed the first redemption date and so lost the lot....    . So a very expensive year...and it's put me off the redemption idea (although I managed it fine the year before; I blame the children...)

BUT my contract is up in 2 weeks, so I had a look at the phone checkers from http://www.mobilephonechecker.co.uk/
and found that I could get a new (reconditioned) phone, together with £100 automatic cashback, 300 x-net mins for £15 per month.

So armed with this I called O2; told them I didn't need (or want) a new phone, but that this was the deal I was looking at.

The first person couldn't help; the disconnections guy eventually offered me the 400 x-net minutes tariff which was £30 per month for £15 per month, and then said that he would include a £150 credit to my bill; so effectively I get the first 10 months free, then only pay £15 per month for the next 8 months :T :T :T .

And I thought that these deals only came from third-party resellers.

    I am now one happy bunny.:p :p:p   :j :j

Give them a call and have a go!

    Nick.
  • I have been with Vodafone for the last year. My contract has just run out and I wanted a Nokia N95. They called me on the Monday and offered me the N95 with 200 xnet mins and 1000 texts for £20 a month. The girl was due to call me back on the Friday to confirm and never called. I rang on the Monday and they said they had no log of the call and no longer had the N95 available (even though it is still on their website) and said I could have an N96 but I dont' like the keypad and I would also have to pay £100 and £23 a month of which I am quite peeved at.
    Any suggestions.......

  • My existing contract with vodaphone had just expired, 75 stop the clock, no free texts.£20 pm. not a good deal. vodaphone rang me and offered me 250 mins plus 100 texts, but no new phone, £12.50pm. I stupidily accepted what I thought was a ok'ish deal. After much berrating and advice from work collegues, I rang back to haggle a better deal. After 5 phone calls over two days I managed to get 100 mins, 50 texts, a Nokia N95 8G, and the clincher... unlimited internet access for the 18 month contract for £15 per month! The secret was to request my pac code, because I'd been offered a better deal with O2, which was a lie. I made up a deal which included the N95 and free internet use and hey presto, vodaphone could more or less match the deal and the "no longer available N95 8G" became available. Press the cancellation option, don't accept first offer, let them ring you back a few times, be a bit pushy, ask for pac code and don't give in. They do not want to lose you, so be cheeky and get what you want.
