Hi all....
My contract was up for renewal earlier this year but i didnt like any of the phones on offer. As im on o2 I went on the simplicity20 (sim only upgrade, no new phone) tarrif and got 600xnet mins and 1000 texts for £20pm. Having read this site about how to haggle a good phone deal, i recently managed to get the Sony Ericsson C902 for free with 600xnet mins unlimited text and web access for £20pm on a 18month contract:j. Not bad especially as it should cost £35pm. What made the deal was when i mentioned Vodafone were offering a simlar deal but for £25. The people at o2 are really nice and im sure i coulda pushed it more but hey......
All i can say is... Cheers mate
P.S dont give up until you get through to the customer retention department!!!!!!!!!0 -
I am currently in month 14 of an 18 month contract with 3, on the highest tariff, mix & match 1100, I have had problem after problem including my phone breaking in month 9, they said it was beyond economical repair, I bought a new battery then it worked again, I changed my bank account for my direct debit which was set up in time for the next bill, they didn't take the payment out then blamed me! For 4 months now I have been trying to reduce my contract as I am only using 300-400 of the 1100 mix n match usage - waste of money in my eyes! But they are constantly saying that I can not change down tariffs, only up - that'll be right, they will snap your hand off when they're going to get more money off you! What can I do????0

I've been with T-Mobile for over 10 years and pay by bill by direct debit. Previously I've had no problems upgrading to a new phone but this year I've been told they can't offer me a free upgrade and I need to provide a GBP75 deposit if I want a new phone !?!?0

I recently renewed my phone contract, first I went into phones 4 u to see what they could offer. I then called o2, who beat the offer that phones 4 u had given me...I went back to phones 4 u again and they beat the deal again so I agreed to the contract. I then called o2 to cancel the contract and they went one better again...remember you have 14 days to cancel a contract so I went back to phones 4 u to cancel the contract. I spent half an hr on the phone to their head office but ended up with a better phone, a contract at £20 a month (which should have been £40) and a further £100 cashback. It took quite a bit of time but was worth it..and o2 couldnt beat the deal again! I would recommend always going in to cancel your contract within 14 days as they have to call their head office who will always try to keep your business!!0

JUDGE 4 YOURSELF ABOUT ‘3’ Yet again we have another illustration of '3s' appalling customer service. I rang today to query a charge on my bill I have seen online and ask when payment would be taken as contracts for both our phones with ‘3’ cease 2/3rd Jan 2009.After 5mins of hanging on and passed from 1 to another guess what ? Yes we're told it’s not been cancelled! Sounds familiar to both of as that’s what we were told near the end of November as we hadn’t given 30 says notice (18mth contract was up on Dec2nd) on ringing '3'to confirm we would not renew it. We told them that we wanted to leave, only to be told we had to give 30 days notice, which we grudgingly put up with to end it. As far as we’re concerned the call centre /customer service is like the signal NON-EXISTANT! On the other end is some one who doesn’t have ENGLISH as even their 2nd language i.e. can’t speak it and don’t understand it. I say this after being on the phone for 90 mins. Spoke to 4 people including a supervisor and all of them ignored our request for PAC code and were only asked why we were leaving, what network we joining etc. and '3' could offer us a better deal. Whatever I said was totally ignored and my wife only got the information after an Hour and a half!!We were told our contracts would end Jan 2/3 2009 but we wouldn't be able to use these codes if we didn't transfer them to another network by 21 Dec, we decided we would have new nos. so didn't bother. After I had sent a message of complaint my wife had 3/4 calls on her phone apologizing (and confirming contract ends 2/3 Jan09) but he still had the bloody nerve to try and get her to sign up for a new contract, no chance!!! Well today '3' have decided to move the goalposts again by saying as we didn't take the numbers elsewhere we are obliged to give another 30 days .No one at any time stated this to us and place '3'as the most sh**e firm of all time. I told '3'in a long conversation early on in said contract so and said then I wouldn't be renewing, if that wasn’t enough notice I don’t know what is ! Whoever reads this has my sympathy as I realize I'm only one of thousands of complaints and presumably you're not working for such a scumbag outfit by choice. So kindly inform whoever we shall not be paying any more money after the bill ending period Jan2/3 20090

I would be very careful about putting your teenage daughters on a contract as you could end up with a nasty surprise come bill time. T Mobile do something called U-Fix that looks to be a better value than standard payg as you get a set number of minutes and texts per month. Once they have been used you can then top up like a normal payg. There is a Lite version that doesn't come with a phone but you get more minutes because of that - and it is a 30 day contract so if it isn't working out you can walk away.
£15.00 - U-Fix Lite 15 (30 day contract) 175 minutes & 450 texts
£20.00 - U-Fix Lite 20 (30 day contract)250 minutes & 600 texts
£25.00 - U-Fix Lite 25 (30 day contract)400 minutes & 900 texts0
