Me and DH both have contracts for £35. This was renewed in January. Things are a bit tight at the moment (as for everyone I know)so we are looking to see if we can reduce our monthly contract payments. Has anyone done this before cos I don't know if it's possible whilst in contract.
Any advice much appreciated

Called Orange last night, they finally backed down. had several exchanges with them where they weren't willing to negotiate. Last night I managed to get a Blackberry 8120 for free, which they wanted £70 for, free blackberry plan (£7.50 month) dolphin 35 (600 mins, unlimited texts) for £30 month, keep my magic number and insurance for £2.50 a month. all in all, £32.50 a month instead of £45 a month. Thanks Orange, you finally came good!0

I have been 17 months on O2 and have reduced a £35 contract down to £20 ready to leave! I only use about 80mins and 50 txt.
They offered £15 deal, new phone 18 month contract 150 ish mins and txt. (twice with different people)
Told them I like the offered £10 12month contract with Virgin (100 min 100 txt new phone sony w750)
They refused to back down so requested my PAK code (portal code to keep number)
Next day O2 called me offering 18 month contract ony £10 Sony W760i 200 mins 400 txts
Better than I could amagine and more than I need!
Worth sticking at it!0 -
Hi everyone,
I thought I'd chip in as well. I requested my PAC code from voda. I had started a cashback deal and the company went bust several months ago, so they lowered my line rental to £15 pm. I'm a very light user, and looked at the comments about present day cashback retailers. I thought I'd give it another go. Anyway, voda called me, I explained what I was after so they've agreed to 75 mins 100 texts, a new Nokia 6300 all for £7.99 pm with no worry about whether I get my cash back. Am delighted!0 -
I rang up Orange last week requesting a MAC and a PAC code and got a fantastic deal! I was a Dolphin 35 customer (400 minutes, unlimited texts and home broadband) for £35 a month, but because I wasn't using all this and couldn't justify the money I said I was leaving. As a friend works for O2 Broadband I'd been offerred a home broadband deal with them for 7.50 a month and I was ringing up to change and then planning just to get a pay as you go phone. What they offerred me though was my current deal (400 minutes, unlimited texts and home broadband) for £10 a month for the first 9 months rising to £15 in the last 9! I also got a free sony erricson c902 thrown in with the deal. I'm one very happy orange customer. The customer services guy was a very friendly guy too0

I rang Orange yesterday to find out when my contract expires and to cancel, only to find it ran out back in May.
I was on £35 a month for unlimited landline and any network minutes and unlimited texts with free broadband but just wasn't using the minutes.
The lady told me I was using 150 minutes a month at the moment and that she'd do me 500 minutes a month and let me keep my free broadband and have a new phone for £15 a month if I was interested.
I said I'd think about it (I really did want to cancel but that made me want to think!) and rang back tonight having looked at the phones on the website and wondering if I could get the price knocked down.
The new lady on the phone was even nicer. She told me I was only using 76 minutes a month.
She offered me 300 any network any time minutes, 100 texts, unlimited landline calls and my free unlimited use broadband for £10 a month and let me have the nokia N82 (with its satnav technology, handsfree kit and 2 gig mem card) for free. So a phone that would cost £250 on payg will cost me £180 over the length of the contract with the free broadband too.
I happily accepted. Then kicked myself afterwards for not asking for a bluetooth headset to go with it. I suggest adding at the end "Will you throw anything else in?" to see what they say. I wish I had!
Saves me having to find a new broadband provider though!0 -
I have finally managed to get a deal on orange that sounds ok.
400 cross network mins, 500 texts, unlimited orange to orange calls, free SE C902 and a 8GB memory card. this plan would usually cost £30 instore and £25 online. + £60 for the handset.
I have got it for £15 a month for 12 months and £20 a month for 6 months and free handset. This works out at a grand total of £300 over the 18 month term!!
In store this package would have cost me £600 over the 18 months.
Online this package would have cost me £510 over the 18 months
BE CAREFUL because orange were offering me higher plans where i would get more mins and texts, over and over again. Although getting lots of texts and mins sounds nice on paper.....is it really a great deal if you wont use the allowance...and are paying an extra £10 a month for it?
I had a look at my usage summary and my average is 300-400 mins and 400 texts. Find the plan that best suits you as appose to taking what the telco offers you.
PS my average monthly bill was around £50 on my old plan (everyday 50)
and now it will be £15!!! yay!!!
PS again.... I am thinking of calling orange during my 7 day cooling off period. I am thinking of telling them i am not happy with some aspect of the offer and please cancel the contract and take the handset (now used) back.....and see what they offer!! I know i am getting greedy if i do this.....but power to the consumer i say!! Anyone have any ideas on what i can try and haggle out of them ????
And one last PS....I had to speak to orange on no less than 5 or 6 occasions. Dont feel you have to agree a package on the first call. Also i was offered further discounts once my 18 months were up compared to while still under contract.....just some food for thought!!

Andrew, read my reply it may help you.
I was in the same boat....been with orange since everyday 20!!
I found different people will offer you different things and also waiting till after my 18 month term had expired got me the best discounts. Keep trying until you get throug to someone in the disconnections team that are helpful.0 -

You don't have a 7 day cooling off period for an upgrade.0 -
