Hello!
Just wanted to make people aware that Orange appear to care less and less about their existing customers - I have been with them for nearly ten years, each year spending an extremely high amount...I have always been assured I am a high band customer and that I can get whatever i want (this was something I was told when upgrading in the past!)
Recently I tried to upgrade in month 14 of an 18 month contract, having been previously been told I could upgrade in the twelth month, and was told that it was going to cost me £100 aswell as adding any remaining months in my current contract to the new 18 month contract!!!!!!!!!!
I am furious and have made the decision to leave Orange - they have always been so good to me, but now i feel they are completely oblivious to those customers that made them as big as they are..very very very disappointed!!!
DO NOT JOIN ORANGE!!!!!!!!0 -
This experience with Orange is really depressing, my contract ends soon and as Orange is the only service I can get where I live I don't have any option other than to go with them. I have a Canary package, 150 text, 325 x network minutes and 100 on-net mins which costs £30. I tend to go over but not by much, I also pay an additional £5 for off-peak internet which is really important. My overall bills are about £40 a month. Unfortunately my phone is at deaths door so I need a new one anyway, pref one with mobile office as I use that quite a bit too.
Is this a reasonable deal? I wish I could get more internet time, not just off-peak but they don't seem to do that. Or a combined package with mobile broadband but they don't seem to offer that either. Can anyone advise on the best deal for me or what I should say when I ring up? I'm not very brave about haggling -I also feel so sorry for the customer services person who could be my son or daughter just doing their best and trying to earn some commission or brownie points that I feel mean trying to beat them down.
Hope someone can advise me

I've got to say, Liz, that doesn't sound like a great deal. I detailed my negotiations with o2 on the previous page, but I now get 600 any network minutes, unlimited texts and unlimited internet use for £25 per month. An 18-month deal with the phone of my choice.
andrew_xlb's post doesn't sound particularly encouraging, but if you lay out your requirements to Orange, tell them that o2 have offered you what I got (tailor it so it suits you better but keep it realistic!) and catch the customer service person in the right mood, you might get lucky.
It does seem to depend on who you speak to, and getting through to the customer retentions department seems crucial, so if the person at the other end of the phone isn't giving you what you want, end the call and ring back later. Don't mention that Orange is the only network that serves your area though!
Best of luck!0 -
Just a note to those who upgrade with o2,i was offered a good deal, 200 mins, 400 texts, free o2 to o2 calls for £20 with a discount on a data bolt on making it £25 a mth
Anyway I rang yesterday to discuss a diff issue and they mentioned my tariff had been rejected, waiting for a call back today as apparently the deal I was offered is too good to be true literally as their system wont allow it! Anyway if I hadnt rang I wouldnt have known until my bill, which would have been after my 10 day cooling off periodWins so far this year: Mum to be bath set, follow me Domino Dog, Vital baby feeding set, Spiderman goody bag, free pack of Kiplings cakes, £15 love to shop voucher, HTC Desire, Olive oil cooking spray, Original Source Strawberry Shower Gel, Garnier skin care hamper, Marc Jacobs fragrance.0 -
My contract with o2 expired yesterday, so naturally I shopped around for the best deal. I was after unlimited texts, a new handset and no fewer than 500 minutes per month for about £30.
o2's starting point was unlimited texts, a new handset of my choice and 600 minutes for £35 per month, so I told them I'd shop around and get back to them. I phoned Orange and they offered me that deal for £27.50 per month.
So, I'm back on the phone to o2. I explain that I've been offered a better deal by Orange (although I told them they'd offered it to me for £25 not £27.50) and while I wanted to stay, I couldn't turn down an offer than would give me an extra tenner a month in my pocket.
After a bit of back and forth, the helpful assistant connected me to the retentions department. It appears that once you're through to these guys, you can start having a bit of fun.
I explained my requirements to the very, very helpful and polite woman and she said that they'd be happy to match Orange's offer. At this point I decided to tell them that I was still leaning towards Orange because of the Orange Wednesday cinema offer and their magic number feature (unlimited calls to one Orange phone number). So, the woman looks at my previous bills and notices that I use the internet quite a lot on my phone. So, she offers me unlimited internet usage too.
With a little bit of charm, a tiny fib and a lot of persuasion, I've got unlimited texts, unlimited internet use, 600 minutes per month and the new Samsung Soul phone for £25 per month. I consider that to be a very good deal.
Is that on a 12 mth or 18 mth contract?
I think those in the o2 retentions thread would benefit if you pasted this post in there too :TWins so far this year: Mum to be bath set, follow me Domino Dog, Vital baby feeding set, Spiderman goody bag, free pack of Kiplings cakes, £15 love to shop voucher, HTC Desire, Olive oil cooking spray, Original Source Strawberry Shower Gel, Garnier skin care hamper, Marc Jacobs fragrance.0 -
I called vodafone yesterday as my contract ends in six days. The first person I spoke to was able to offer me £15 per month for 400 minutes and 100 texts plus new sony walkman phone. I currently pay £35 per month for the same minutes and texts. I pushed to get it sub £10 quoting a cashback deal on offer but £15 was as low as they could go. Easy peasy!!!0

They tried to get me into a 24-month deal, but we eventually settled on 18-months.
New to the forum... if I can find the o2 retentions thread, I'll post it there.0 -
