I had a very annoying experience recently with Orange. They initially agreed to reduce my bill by 60% providing I didn't take the upgrade, which wasn't a problem. However when I came to sign up to this deal only 15 minutes later, they stated that the deal I had been offered was not company policy and therefore I could not have it. Their new offer was not as great.
Needless to say I was very annoyed that they offered a great deal only to retract it. That plus I was forever being cut-off or having bad reception. Have cancelled my contract with them. Fantastic customer retention orange.
Ironically I have found the call quality to/from Skype to be so much better than orange and theres no charge!0 -
hello,,
well i trang up disconnections yest, as im a high end user.. think im classed as band 5 (highest they have)... i rang up asking if i could change my tariff from your plan 200 (30 quid i think it is or 35)... to dolphin 35so i get t extra 50 minutes and 250 txt
so then i got put through to disconnections, and the lady i spoke to said i can have the SPV m3100 or se p990i i asked about upgrade free as mine would be 50 quid from the orange shop.
They offered me the dolphin 35 tariff, for 25 pounds and free handset of either one

Hi
I'm a bit behind with all the phone tarrifs and have been reading with interest all of the postings. My phone has just died on me! It was a cheap pay a you go bought for around £25 at Asda to replace a previous one.
I'd normally spend around £10pm on calls..so didn't want to lock myself into a monthly contract for around £20 or so.
Now...do I buy my own phone and stay on pay as u go or go on a cheap monthly contract? I'm currently with T-mobile as it has free voicemail so is convenient as I cannot have my phone on in work during the day so use voicemail in the lunchour to see if anything urgent has come up. I am a reluctant texter but maybe might text around 6 a month at the most.
I'm not really bothered about a fancy phone so don't need anthing with all the bells and whistles:D
All advice is appreciated.
Thanks

Hi
I called Orange Customer Retentions ("If you're thinking of leaving Orange") and, at first, the chap (who was quite friendly) just went through the usual package options.
Having researched, I told him about a far better T-Mobile offer of more minutes for the same money, but said that I actually wanted twice the minutes, but cheaper. In the end I just stated my figure and he accepted it, plus gave me free insurance. I agreed I'd keep my old phone as it's a hassle changing over and it does ok. It's a 12 month deal and gives me double the minutes, plus free insurance, for two-thirds of the cost I'd been paying. I'm happy with that.
Thanks all, for your tips

I am just coming to the end of a 12 month T-Mobile U-Fix contract. The Phone I wanted was the T-Mobile MDA Vario II I was told the Upgrade price was £240 pounds and that was giving me a £50 'Loyalty' bonus.
I was paying £15 pound a month plus (U-Fix off peak) and had a Text bundle added on. However if I start as a NEW Customer on the Flext 20 Tariff (25% Discount making it £15 a month for 18 months) I can get the SAME Phone for £120.00! HALF PRICE to New Customers .. Hence Customer Loyalty Counts for NOTHING except double the price of the Phone.
I have spoken to the Retention department & asked for a Manager (who didn't call me back as promised) The people at the Retention department can understand my complaint but cannot do anything about it.
I am unable to keep my number.. I was advised by a T-mobile advisor the only way around this is to port my Number to another mobile company and then port it back! It's the only way I can keep my present number! Crazy or what!
As you can imagine I do not intend to pay twice the price as a loyal customer for the phone I want. But pay half and have a new number! I will be emailing the CEO and keep you updated on any updates.
Kind Regards

Just rang Vodafone tonight and got what seems a good result for me.
My current contract was due to expire - 75 minutes, plus 250 txts, plus Stop the Clock and Passport for £20 per month. I don't use all the texts but I normally go a bit over the minutes, so my bill is normally around the £25 mark
I was given two choices:
1) 18 month contract with a new 3G handset and 125 minutes, plus 250 texts plus Stop the Clock and Passport for £20 per month
2) 12 month contract with 125 minutes, plus 250 txts plus Stop the Clock and Passport, but with NO handset upgrade, for £12.50 per month
I probably could have haggled harder, but the latter deal suited me fine, as I am happy with my phone and I have a spare 6310i in of emergencies.0 -
I have been trying on T-Mobile for a few days to get a better deal. Always ask for accessories, I think they can throw in one or two for free.0

I actually read the bit in the article about how to use onecompare, and only rang Orange to get a PAC code so I could carry over my number to Vodaphone who were offering a 12 month contract, £40 for 500 mins and 500 texts, with 3 months free.
As it happens, Orange decided to match it, and offered me unlimited texts, 550 mins for £35 plus the same handset that I wanted for free.
I thought that sounded great, and I felt very privilaged. So I've signed up, and following that, I read Martin's article about haggling. I decided to see how well I'd done by checking the Orange website, and actually found that I've just been given a standard package :-( Its good, but am less privilaged than I thought.
Ah well... At least I don't need to change network, and it is essentially a better deal than Vodaphone apart from the 18 months rather than 12, and I don't get 3 months free.Financially upset - but I haven't spent any money since Thursday last week!0 -

I have been with o2 (genie previously) for 5 years. I was (until 15minutes ago) on the £45 a month with 400 mins and 1000 texts on 12 month contract. I have been having problems with my billing (o2's fault) since february. so as a good will, they reduced my monthly billing to £30 a month until november.
so for £30 a month i got 400 mins anytime anynetwork and 1000 texts on 12 month contract.
i called up 2 weeks ago to upgrade, told the o2 lady if she can offer me something better. she offered me any new phone for free, 400 mins and 1300 txts on a 12 month contract. I told her i will call back and let her know.
I called 15mins ago... told the o2 guy what his colleague offered me 2 weeks ago, and told him that wasnt good enough, i recieved a better offer and i wanted a PAC code so i can change networks and keep my number...
ended up with 500 mins 1000 texts on a 12month contract for £20 a month. and any free phone.... N73 ofcourse!! i wish i asked for more texts!! :T
never mind hey..... maybe 1 of u guys will !!0
