    Hi,

My Orange promotional tariff ends at the end of next month & I want to negotiate a better deal than the tariff it will revert to. Currently I'm paying £15 per month for 120 mins cross-network / anytime + 30 free texts; it will revert to £25 for 120 mins & no free texts, which is pretty awful.

I rarely go above 120 mins per month so I'm not too interested in increasing that, but an extra 30 mins would be nice, 50 - 100 texts a month would also be nice but not essential; I'm more interested in keeping my tariff as low as possible. I would be prepared to switch to a competitor if necessary but would rather stay with Orange; what is my best strategy when phoning Orange to renegotiate & how cheeky should I be?

    TIA, Jason

    Hi Jason

I have merged your post with an existing thread regarding getting a new deal so if you read back through the thread you should be able to find the help you are looking for :)
  • Hi all free timers!!

Whats the best price anyone has got from t-mobile, on re-newing on free time extra contract (eg. calls to landline/t-mobile evening & week ends free all other networks and times, 25pence per minute.

Well, I don't know the full story, as it was my mum who made the call as it's all on her account. The reason being is she got me a contract when I was 16 for 3000 offpeak minutes and then a few years later, she got one herself, and we haven't got round to transferring my contract into my name.

I am tempted to get the Nokia 6280 on the Flext 35 or 50. They had first said (online anyway without speaking to anyone) that it would cost me £40 for the upgrade to the 6280! This however, is probably on the current freetime 750, which is now different to what I have. I currently have 750 minutes to t-mobile and 50 texts and that was on a 12 month deal, but now they only have it on an 18 month deal, but you do get 25 more texts.......great!

Anyway, I told my mum to tell them I could get the 6280 with 4 months free Line Rental through OneStopPhoneShop, so they offered £4 off line rental a month(!), would give me an extra £20 allowance (which is what they are offering anyway if you deal direct through them for the month of June!) and would reduce my mum's line rental to £3.99 instead of £13.99. I was not that impressed to be honest.

Mum hung up afterwards as she was getting confused. I then tried to make out what she was offered, and it was what I have mentioned above.

She rang them back to ask a few questions for more clarification, but one thing wasn't very clear.

Online, if you choose to renew your contract and not change your phone, you get £10 off line rental, however, when she asked if this was possible for her, and she was told "No, we can only do that if you renew both contracts at the same time."!

I'm not too happy with this, so if they will let me talk to them on her account, I will see if I can get my contract transferred to me with my details and then see what I can do myself!
  • Hmmmm

I remember reading a thread onetime (cant remember where) but I think someone had a contract with t-mobile and when they renewed it on the free time extra, (previously one2one) that like me they were paying £25 per month.
I dont want a new phone, I just want to re-new the contract only this time t-mobile wants a 18 month contract and have offered it for £15 per month still 25p for calls.
My bill is £35-£40 per month and I would use around 18 hours -yes 18 hours a month of free time calls.
Even at £15 per month+vat I think its a good deal, but I just love bargens....

Having just tried to negotiate a new deal with Orange, and been treated errr not very well, I am looking at the deals available elsewhere now, Orange have even told me they are no longer sending PAC codes out via text messages, so I have to wait for snail mail.

It seems that my £25 a month isnt worth their while trying to retain, the fact its always paid ontime is not relevant, I dont spend enough to be a valued client as far as Orange are concerned.

Orange seem to have lost all interest in retaining existing customers from what I've read here and from my own experience. They wanted to charge me £129 for a phone that would have been free if I was a new customer and didn't seem at all bothered when I told them I'd be moving to O2 where I can get the same deal as I had at Orange and the phone for free.
  • I just tried Martins tip and easily haggled 500 xnet 250 txts & 15 photo msgs plus a new phone, kept my number all for £25 from Orange in the last month of my current contract, I was on 200 xnet for £30, Thanks!
