Kido, just call 202 from your O2 phone, select Option 2, and then Option 2 again (following the voice prompts, as if you were planning to cancel your contract). This will put you directly through to Retentions.
Best of luck negotiating!0 -
Thank you Martin!
Due to your haggling tips... I have just gone from having:
120 any time minutes and 1000 texts with Orange's student plan (£25 per month) on a 12 month contract...to:
500 anytime minutes... and 1000 texts....a new Nokia 6111 and a Bluetooth Headset..... on an 18 month contract....for £25 a month!
The other phone'll go on Ebay as its in a great condition.....
I acheived this by going straight through to "Customer Services and Retentions"... telling them that I have found a better deal with Vodafone (Technically I hadn't as it was a sim only offer!) which was 500 anytime mins and 1000 texts for £25 a month. I also said that I wanted my PAC number... She asked what phone I wanted and I said a 6111 or a 6280... she said a 6111 would be arranged... I said great, please can you make a note of that on the system, she said yep and I said I'd call back and confirm this...
I then went on the Orange website and saw that they were offering things like 10% off line rental and magic numbers etc.. I phoned them back up and asked if I could have 10% off my line rental and a magic number if I renewed the contract...the girl said yep, then the phoneline went dead (d'oh!!!!)
I phoned them back up and spoke to a jolly nice young man who basically told me that the previous girl had got it wrong, and that I couldn't have the 10% off (as basically I was getting a pretty good deal as it was!) and I couldn't have a magic number as it just wasn't possible....I sounded pretty miffed as you can imagine, and said, well then what else can you do for me?! "Is it possible for you to put in a bluetooth headset for me?"... Answer: Yep!!
This will be fab, seeing as I finish being a student next week, they didn't ask to see my student status and I didnt' offer it!
This seems a bit too good to be true... Orange really seemed to bend over backwards to help me outwell done Orange

My Vodafone contract runs out at the end of this month (May), They have already matched the 125 minutes 1000 texts that o2 phoned up and offered me, but I want to change phones to the Nokia n80. so they said to wait until it comes out.
They now want to charge me £130 for the phone!!!! Originally it was £150 but they said because I have been with them so long (7 years iirc). I told them in no uncertain terms that it was ridiculous to try and charge me £130 when I could wait until June and go to o2 and get it free. They wouldn't budge saying that's the price I've been offered today, so I hung up.
Should I wait a bit longer and see if Vodafone give the phone to me for free or just upsticks and leave on June 5? What happens when my contract expires?0 -
Do orange give upgrades without asking for your old phone back? And do they give any unlocked phones0
-
Orange will probably give you credit for trading your old phone in, but I've not heard of it as a condition for upgrade, as the phone is now considered 'outside' of their contracts.
No, you cannot get an unlocked phone direct from Orange. I recall asking Orange retentions for one and coming away with a PAC instead0 -
Hi everyone,
i have contract with orange for about 5 months.i want to know can i use this trick?
i.e.;ask for PAK code and then.............?:por i can do that only at the end of the contract?
Thanks in advance

from what I have seen, Vodaphone are really crap when it comes to renewals and you are better off walking come june. You'll get a much better deal elsewhere0 -
MUHAMID, you can only do that at the end of the contract without incurring extra charges. Otherwise, if you want your PAC code earlier you'll have to pay off the rest of the contract (although if you have more than 1 month left on it you'll get a 5% discount).
Be patient, mate0 -
Just got off the phone with O2. Well impressed with them. My 12 month online contract is up on July 16th - was 200 Xnetwork mins and 50 texts for £30. Now got a new phone SE W810i, 500 Xnet mins and 500 texts for £20 a month, still on 12 month contract. The phones coming tomorrow. The only leverage I used was to say that I'd seen a better deal on the 3 network and thought I was paying too much. I also said the phone I wanted wasn't the one they were offering so they asked what I wanted and they said OK. So all in all I'm really happy with O2, I hope they can keep it up. Wish they did a family package as I've got 6 phone users in the family.
This is my second year with O2 and I'm really happy with them. I moved from Orange last year after 7 years with them. I was treated disgracefully by Orange at the end. My phone was stolen, I reported it to Orange on day 3 because I initially thought I'd lost it. Someone had ran up a £500 bill calling Pakistan. They threatened all kinds of legal action and forced me to pay it and never offered me any payment terms - disgrace.0 -
I have a contract with T-mobile: Freetime tariff - free eves & weekends (other T-Mobiles and landlines only) For £20 per month. I'm due for an upgrade early next month, but a bit sceptical of what my bargaining power is. The likelihood of me getting a similar deal on a different network I guess are pretty slim to non existent, and as T-Mobile do not offer this tariff anymore, for me to try my luck and get a better deal on my tariff, I think they'd rather lose me or put me on a tariff that doesn't give me the flexibility of so much free call time. My bills are in the region of £35-55 per month, and most of my friends and family are with T-Mobile, so I'd really like to stay. Basically all I want is a decent phone. The Nokia N91 or N80 would be the phones of choice, but T-Mobile never have the top of the range phones. I think the best they have currently (in the Nokia range, which is my preferred phone manufacturer) is the N70.
Thanks in advance MSE's. Its better to be mad than to be a mute. Everyone hears the grievance of a madman - whether they acknowledge you or not. The mute is as good as dead...
