Viewed a house today - Rude Seller!!!

I went to a viewing where the seller was in, he hadn't tidied up at all - it was stinking - and his child was asleep in the front room (at 11am!) so we couldn't even look at the room! We didn't even look upstairs! And we wondered why it had been on the market so long and how they had managed to knock 30k off the asking price (bought for 177 in 2007, selling for 150!) What are these people thinking?! Clear up and clear off!0

I'd bid 120k in its current state. The vendor's attitude needs a serious readjustment. Thought that red room was tacky and garish. Move on , you can get a lot more for your money elsewhere. With that kind of attitude that house will still be sitting unsold in a years time.0

..and another reason why owners shouldn't be doing their own viewings - friend of mine went with OH to view a house a number of years ago. Greeted at the door by the man of the house, with babe in arms. Babe was as naked as the day he/she was born. House 'smelt like he'd just changed the baby's nappy' (but obviously hadn't got as far as replacing it). They spent ten minutes or so nodding appreciatively as the owner carried his naked child around the house, showing them which room was which........0 -
The seller is likely to have it for sale for at least another year if they are rude to people That living room looks like hell and shows a very angry personality:eek:An average day in my life:hello: :eek::mad: :coffee::coffee::coffee::T
:rotfl: :rotfl:
:eek::mad: :beer:
I am no expert in property but have lived in many types of homes, in many locations and can only talk from experience.0 -
Hi...just a thought,
We are unaware of sellers circumstances and could it be possible that he may not want his house to sell? It could very well be a separation / divorce and he is being forced to market the property. Perhaps he really wants to keep the property but cannot afford to buy the other party out. He may not have 100% say in what offer would be accepted.
Do not let him put you off a house if you love it!
On the other hand, will you enjoy living there if he leaves a bad 'taste'?0 -
Agents around here don't do accompained viewings as standard. I have never had an agent viewing or had an agent do my viewings and I have been a home owner 23 years.
It is hard to arrange viewings when you have a family- try not to be intolerant of a child having a nap. A baby naping at 11 am isn't unusual or a poorly school child. It wouldn't bother me about the baby - what was he supposed to do, lots of people wouldn't answer the door in those circs until baby was clad and buyer would have gone away.
Do try to understand how hard selling a house, organise viewings and run a family is -no excuse for rudeness or dirt - expect perhaps signs of life if you book a viewing at short notice - you can't live in a show home!
Do try and look beyond the decor and untidiness - you can change 1 and the other you aren't buying - look beyond it and see the potential - you may get a bargain -you may also get someone who is seriously naive and even after being on the market for 2 years and doing nothing to the place still expects top wack - seen a few of these!0
